California - Speaks for itself. Beaches, weather, women, SF has tech which I love, LA has that nightlife which is nice, and the scenery is pretty much unbeatable even in areas between LA/SF and LA/SD. San Diego probably has the best weather year-round in the entire country. Honestly, the only downside besides cost of living are the earthquakes in SoCal. New York - Specifically for New York City. I've never been upstate, but New York City to me is the greatest city I've ever been to. It's also my favorite.
Montana. No question. I grew up here and left for school and to see the rest of the world. As a youngster the outside world seems pretty exciting when you see it on TV. You gotta get out ya know? But after 25 years away and having lived in New York and Texas and having visited 40 of the 50 states, I moved back. I don't plan on ever living anywhere else again. Why? I could write my reasons here, but as they say a picture is worth a thousand words... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/c7XYzOd8R0I" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
1. California Girls are gorgeous AF 2. Texas Overall peolle here are good people I hated Arkansas and Oklahoma
Oregon/Washington (about to start looking for work there) Hawaii (probably would be my first choice if the airfare wasn't so ridiculous and cost of living wasn't through the roof) Texas (while I'll probably never move back...always be my home)
I clicked on this thread thinking it was asking what state, as in physical/mental state, we love the most. The answer to what the OP actually is asking is obvious, Texas, even with it's cocked up government for more than a decade. The answer to the question I thought was being asked was also simple for me. Being pain free.
"A friend once asked me "what's there to to in Texas?" and I said ANYTHING YOU WANT..." - Billy Gibbons That said, I'd go with Colorado. Cold weather and snowy mountains are where it's at as far as I'm concerned. I've been to LA, San Diego, and SF/Oakland and all are beautiful but there's too much traffic in Cali.
I'll always proudly be from Texas. I live in Oregon. SW Oregon to be more precise. 90 minutes east to the Cascades and Crater Lake, 90 minutes west to the spectacular Oregon coast. I can take an afternoon off and go skiing or snowshoeing, hiking or floating. There is world class whitewater nearby and world class scenery all around. Plus, vineyards and lots of organic specialty ag crops. Our Farmer's Market is incredible. Weather is great, more like NorCal than Portland/Seattle.
California #1. Surf, weather, mountains, outdoors, snowboarding, redwood forests, scenery. We have pretty good beer and wine here too. People tend to be friendlier in some parts of Texas. And I miss BBQ and Tex-Mex. Alaska is the prettiest state I've been to. I also like Oregon and Colorado. Current weather in Encinitas, CA. Sunny and 69 degrees. But, it's expensive here. And the traffic and the fires and the earthquakes. It's dangerous. Go somewhere else.
Everyone saying Oregon knows their only talking about the 3 months of the year... what about the other 9?
Mountain States are dominating the thread. I've been pretty everywhere, every highway. Pure beauty I'd say OR and WA are tops. Followed very closely by CA, CO, and WY. UT and MT aren't far behind at all. Appalachians in TN VA NY WV and nice, but can't hang.
The entire West Coast's temperatures are mild. LA isn't as hot as one might think and SEA isnt as cold. Of course there are a few days of exception, but this is the general rule.
Cali Hawaii Colorado Texas Illinois Virginia In that order. These are places I have lived. Colorado has too much history for me so I ranked it lower. But Colo is beautiful, perfect seasons. I like cold seasons, I was born a beach boy and I dont care for racism. Texas lost a lot of points on the Racism status but maintained a lot on the cost of live and Rockets status. Hawaii is Hawaii but cost of living and being non continental when so many families are within continental is a throw off. Cali has the same to offer plus snow and not as expensive when visiting other families. I love cold seasons but Illinois for crying out loud goes overboard. Virginia just goes overboard on seasons and humidity. And people didnt like sailors anyway. Screw em.
