Lol at them thinking Asik is a championship level center. The guy shouldn't play more than 25 mpg and he can't play any level of offense. He's a nice defender and rim protector but he can't defend PFs and there aren't really any true centers for him to defend either.
I love this idea of trading lin/asik/jones but obviously salaries wont match. Itll most likley be lin/parsons/jones and picks for love. Once we lose lin i would go after chalmers of livingston. These point guards can facilitate and get the ball to our shooters or go inside to howard. We can let love play stretch four. And kinda do what asik does. Hes a worst defender than asik but he makes up for rebounds and the ability to hit threes. Now with love we have the option to offer deng a contract. Or grab brewer in that deal for love. With that said our line up would look potentially as good as clippers. C. Howard/ free agent center PF. Love/ montiejunas SF. Deng or brewer/ covington SG. Harden/ troy daniels PG. Livingston or Chalmers/ beverly With that lineup we lose parsons offense for loves offense. And gain huge defensive dividends. Deng/ livingston or chalmers are great defenders. And if we happen to add chalmers he is a pretty decent 3 point shooter. This team next year is definatley better than 2013-14 rockets and it will be better defensively. 2nd/3rd seed is within reach and west finals is definatley within reach. Because we are as good as Lac if not slightly better
That's a terrible deal for Minnesota. Parsons has to be in it or we won't even come close to a deal. Plus we're not even guaranteed to sign Melo if we could open up the cap room. Who is to say that he doesn't bolt to Chicago to stay in the East or LA if they could get Love for their lottery pick or heck, maybe he's all about money and stays in New York? Nothing is guaranteed and if push comes to shove, you offer up Parsons if you're Morey.
Minnesota doesn't want and won't take Lin. They certainly wouldn't do a deal without the base being Asik, Parsons, and the 2014 1st. Probably also add Jones and 2016 1st as well.
Boston has much more better and interesting Assets than Houston, the only way we could get him is via Free Agnecy.
Kevin Love wants to win. I don't think Boston will be a contender next year. We have Harden and Howard. If Love comes here, we will have a shot at NBA Finals and that's what Love wants.
With Morey's /Lurch's connections in Boston/Minny, I could definitely see a deal where the foundation is Asik/young talent headed to Boston, some of our young talent/picks/Celtic pick headed to Minny, and KLove + coming here to win some titles.
Asik+Parsons+Jones+2 picks is fair. Have to hope that the McHale and Harden factors can come into play.
Also, I put this in the blog story, but one more thing to remember: if Parsons is the golden ticket for this trade, it has to happen by June 30. That way, Minnesota could decline his option, send him to restricted free agency and match any offer. Once June 30 passes and Parsons is officially bound for unrestricted free agency in 2015, he'd be in the exact same contractual position as Love, and Minnesota would have no incentive to do the trade since Parsons could (and would) exit after one year, just like Love. http://rockets.clutchfans.net/6766/wojnarowski-rockets-plan-aggressive-play-for-kevin-love-trade/
Asking from a place of sincerity -- What makes trading the farm for Love a better option than making small upgrades at the PG/PF and adding a defensive wing? Is he a better defensive player than I think he is? Are there clauses in the CBA that will enable us to strengthen the bench if we get him? I don't know anything about that end of things, admittedly. This just seems like a really big gamble that could potentially end up the way things did this year.... I wanna be convinced though, just in case this happens.
was this posted 3 hours ago? By Adrian Wojnarowski 3 hours ago Yahoo Sports Celtics loom as intriguing destination for Kevin Love .... Houston doesn't have the draft picks to offer Minnesota, but does have appealing young players in Chandler Parsons and Omer Asik to include in packages. McHale acquired Love for the T'wolves with a draft-night trade and coached him. Beyond McHale, Houston could offer Love an immediate chance to be part of a contender. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/celtics-loom-as-intriguing-destination-for-kevin-love-211238504.html
The Rockets would retain the MLE and BAE to add role players around the proposed Big 3. If Lin isn't traded, then they'll also have his expiring contract and perhaps some leftover picks to fill out the team more adequately.
Morey will play this just like he did with the Dwight Howard situation - make a fair offer, reject unreasonable demands, and wait until the next off season to sign him.
Everyone keeps saying they don't need a C with Pek but the dude doesn't defend, and Asik doesn't score. Why can't Minny just play them together, you can't even consider them twin towers since Pek has a mod range shot.
Nobody on the team showed up except Dwight, Ask, Lin and Bev so IMHO outside of HnH everyone is dispensable at this point.
