That makes sense to some degree, but when has a team ever traded for an unrestricted player in the final year of his contract who actively didn't want to be there, but then changed his mind? I can't think of any, at least not in the last few years.

    Dwight wanted LA
Chris Paul wanted the clippers and had to pick up his player option (so he was there for 2 years)
    ???

They would have expiring contracts in both. Maybe a deadline trade.

    Bev
    Harden
    Parsons
    Love
    Howard

Would love this. Too bad were most likely losing him if we make that trade

If you can have Milsap, Parsons, and Jones - is it worth it to get love instead? Milsap is pretty good

Milsap and Al Jefferson are suffering through the East-West Talent disparity. When these guys were together in the West, they were 2nd class. Now in the garbage heap that is the East, they became "all star" caliber players.

If we do trade for him, then it's only if he signs an extension when he's traded, and if that's the case, we won't have to include much, because if he signs the extension for the trade, then he would also just sign as a free agent as well. I just don't see the incentive to trade much of anything for someone for one year, and even less if it's at the trade deadline.

Needless to say, Love is the perfect stretch 4 to pair with Howard. In addition, there would be no rebounds for the opposing team.

Except for Harden and Howard, give them whatever they want, including Parsons.

This would be amazing. Gotta hope Love puts his foot down (sorry Scola:() and demands to be dealt to us a la Dwight with Brooklyn/LA. There were plenty of teams that could have outbid the Lakers, including Morey's Rockets, but Dwight made sure that they stayed away with the threat of walking away in a year.

Can you imagine? Howard blocks, Love gets the rebound, then makes the touchdown pass to random SF, random SF with the monster slam. Opposing team calls timeout. Crowd goes wild.

Phoenix would definitely be one of the other exceptions, being loaded up on as many picks and assets as they are. They were on the doorstep of the playoffs this year, and the addition of Love would help them contend as you said. The problem is, they would have to gut their team to put together a package to match Love's incoming salary. It would start with Len and then a combination of the Morris twins, Green, Plumlee, and Goodwin.

    For example, http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=kyegobc

I'm not sure if Frye can be included in any trades at this point due to him having a player option for next season (Capologists please help me out on this).

Bledsoe and Tucker are RFAs, so I don't think they can't be included. If they are re-signed, they still have a pretty good core even after losing several of their young players - Dragic/Bledsoe/Tucker/Love/C.

I agree with your thinking- get your stars now, worry about re-signing them later. There's gonna be some GMs willing to take that chance, but I don't think it's gonna be as many as some think.

Y'all know Morey gives ZERO ****s about assurances and re-signing. Was about to deal the whole damned roster for Dwight.

The best deal I could see Morey offering would be:

    Asik, Lin, Jones, Dmo + 2014 #1 and 2016 #1

    for

    Love, Martin.

I doubt he dangles Parsons, when we could just sign Melo for half the cost and keep Parsons.

    Beverley / Brooks / Canaan
    Harden / Martin / Daniels
    Parsons / (Ariza - MLE)
    Love / Covington
    Howard / (Okafor - BAE)
