(Srs) Why are female softball players generally fat(ted) than other female athletes?

    Yes there are plenty of jokes to be had, but why are women softball players, generally, bigger?

    They are exercising all the time and I am sure they have a healthier more dedicated lifestyle than many people, but they seem to be bigger. My only thought is that it is harder for women to stay small and put on muscle mass.

    Thoughts?

    Definitely not bigger than the ladies of shot put.

    I think you need big lower body to generate power in throwing or swinging.

    This isn't true. I'm on my phone, so can't post an image from google images, but the US women's softball team are no bigger than the Williams sisters and Lindsey Davenport

    OP might be talking about the pitchers only

    Was thinking this... same in MLB too.

    Pitchers are usually the least athletic people on the field. They're mostly only playing because of their arm.

    Not my experience, but the simple answer to the rhetorical, stupid question is it might be less continually aerobic than other sports.

    probably this, if you are a good hitter, you pretty much don't have to run at all. hell they can even get someone to run for you
