So you never in your life been frustrated with one of your jobs. Trust I understand this situation to the fullest. But I can tell you really don't. If you did you wouldn't be on here talking down on this man because he wants to win a Super Bowl before his career comes to an end.
According to here: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/houston-texans/andre-johnson/ They will have 7mil of dead money next year.
Yes, but they have a 16 million dollar cap hit...so they will save 9 million dollars by cutting him. He'd almost assuredly be a cap casualty next season.
You're so naive, lol. No $hit he has 3 years left on his deal...but his cap hits are too high, there is no way the Texans would keep him beyond this year. I can see you're new to football...welcome!
Look here son im probably older than you and probably watched more football than you. If we Dre stays and continue to produce on a high level, the Texans won't be getting rid of him. Dude I already mentioned that we should trade him. Im not on this forum talking down on the man because he is not happy with his current situation. Yall preaching he wants more money but have yall even considered this man might want to win a Super Bowl. This man put in 11 good season with the Texans so why are you gents cutting the man down. **** imo doesn't make any sense. But hey I've noticed a lot of fans will turn on a player in a heartbeat.
If I understand that link right, if they cut him next year, they clear up 9MM in cap room in 2015. If they cut him this year, they only save $4MM in cap room this year - but $16MM next year by accelerating all the cap hits to this year. Is that right? If so, it may incentivize them to cut him this year if he really does pout because it gives them a whole lot more cap flexibility in 2015.
All anyone is saying is that he should have kept his displeasure behind closed doors...nobody is cutting him down. And yes, it's very obvious you have no idea what you're talking about. There is no way the texans would keep Andre at a 16 million dollar cap hit, regardless of how he's producing...so the fact that you are talking about 3 years left on his contract shows how little you know and understand about the situation.
There's no reason to cut him this year though. You couldn't replace him for 4 mil so why make your team worse? 9 mil next year though? You can do a lot with that if Andre wants to play hardball.
You still over here fighting this lost cause pimpn...??? Dre said this team is in a rebuilding situation. He pretty much said this team isn't as good as some people (around here specifically) think it is... He hurt some feelings.
What about if you get an extra $7MM next year by cutting him this year? If the front office internally feels like this is a rebuilding year anyway (no idea if they do or not), is it possibly better to give them even more flexibility for next year's roster? Plus, if he's not going to work hard, do you want to pay him $10MM this year anyway? (note: this all presumes AJ is willing to play hardball and actually be a nuisance for the team to free himself - there's no indication that this is the route he's taking or even likely.)
You make a valid point...but I think AJ is definitely going to be giving it all whenever he is out on the field. At the end of the day, he needs to show that he's still capable of playing at a high level because at the end of this upcoming season, he's going to need a new contract...either with Houston or another team. Therefore, he wont do anything that will jeopardize his next contract. Plus, until Rick Smith gains my trust again, I actually wouldnt mind 7 million in dead money next year because that means Rick cant blow it all in free agency. In case he makes some mistakes, then we will have an additional 7 million coming off the books for the 2016 free agency.
While the math makes a compelling case, I don't think the Texans would ever live it down if they cut AJ this year, and his blood would (rightly or wrongly) be a lot on BOB's hands. It might be a feasible, if not smart, football move... but it'd be a PR disaster.
And if they do keep him that will show that you don't have a clue. You do know they could restructure his freaking contract smart one. I am not the only one that's talking about how many years he has on his contract. I guess those radio host on 790 and 610 doesn't have a clue either. I guess Charlie P doesn't know jack turkey sh&t either. LOL It is ok to disagree but if you are not in the Texans front office, please don't act like you know everything that is going on or with this Dre situation. They could cut him a new deal or get rid of him. We shall see.
Yeah LOL but im done now pimpn. It is very clear to me that they know everything that is going on. They know exactly who will be cut, they know who will be the starters. They are in the day to day meeting with the office personnel. Yes Andre is frustrated due to the rebuilding process and has the right to voice his opinions where he see fits. Couldn't he have said it behind close doors, yes but we don't know if he has or hasn't done that already, especially after that supposedly super bowl contending season. Gents everything doesn't get leaked out. Bwhahahahahaha But then again we have some gents on here with some inside sources.
Vegas still has this team at 8 wins. If Watt and AJ play like the HOFers they are, there's no reason to think we can't sneak into the playoffs and make a run like the Ravens TBH
Weak schedule, weak division, it's absolutely possible. Of course the people who think that football is just 2 QB's on a field by themselves playing one on one might disagree, but I'm fine with that.
I think we're an 8-8 team. I don't see the playoffs, but one can dream. Wildcard birth is certainly much easier in the AFC.
