Melo plays defense if the game is nationally televised and he is going up against another elite SF/PF. :)

    If we just:
1.) Bribe Utah to take Lin by offering up Dmo and our first round pick for cap space.
2.) Waive the non guaranteed deals of Casspi and Covington.
3.) Ask Garcia to not pick up his option, but instead just re-sign for the vet minimum.

That clears up 11.8 million dollar in cap room. That is enough to add a terrific free agent.

I think that is enough to add one of the following:
    Lowry
    Stevenson
    Deng
    Gortat

or maybe, depending on other circumstances:
    Dirk
    Duncan
    Bledsoe
    Monroe
    Hayward

Did Morey tell you the Rockets weren't good enough to beat OKC unless they add a superstar to the squad? I'm not sure how else you would have come to that conclusion. I wonder why he would say that. Could it be that it completely justifies his decision to sign Dwight and then call it a day this year, thus absolving him of another first round exit? Damn, you mean we don't have a super team of 5 all-stars? May as well just give up then.

What does any of that have to do with your complete misunderstanding of what happened in Portland?

Melo is a lesser version of Harden?
At least Melo shows up in the playoffs.

"What happened in Portland"? Not sure what you mean. Is it not an advantage to have a near elite player on a rookie contract? I don't think it matters what order guys were signed in. No matter how you slice it, it still helps to pay great players less money. You're losing my interest fast here.

Melo is 30. Unless LeBron suprises everyone and decides to sign with New York, Melo will almost definitely go down history as another Superstar without a ring. Melo owes New York NOTHING. The best thing has happened in New York has been, ironically Jeremy Lin. Melo holds the cards to say f you New York, I'm walking for nothing or you can take Asik, Lin, Jones, whatever, from Houston. It works and makes complete sense.

Come on, he's 30. Surely he's matured enough to be satisfied with just the money, or actually make his name go down in history as one of the greats WITH a ring. AND he can play the 4. Hell he's probably a better post player than Dwight. His defense has always been suspect, but Harden, Howard, Parsons, and Carmelo on offense? Who do you double team? Oscar is right. Give him 2 days hanging with Dwight and Chandler.

I'm not sure where he was going either...

But to your earlier point, you could waste another year of this short championship window to have your "ideal" set of players and never contend. We saw that with the previous cast after 07'. There is a good chance that one of our main guys will be injured and we will have to chalk the season up wondering what could have happened. You don't need this mythical 3rd star everybody is talking about but I do think that Melo would be better than Harden. He is at the same point in his career that Dwight is in and will do whatever it takes to win. That isn't priority though IMO, First and foremost ...they need to address this team's defensive woes and coaching/execution. No matter what you do, I doubt they will be able to go far with the GM pulling the strings because he thinks coaching "doesn't matter" and our poor execution was all "a coin flip." After that would be addressing the PF spot. Its been two ****ing seasons already with the hole in that position, its about time we fix it.

Do you fact check anything you say?

Melo's PER, TS%, and WS/48 all take nosedives in the postseason. Last year, -4 PER, -.6 TS%, -.06 WS/48 and he was even worse the year before. And since you judge players completely based on emotion without room for rational thought, I'll just put it like this: In a ten year career, he's only gotten out of the the first round twice and he didn't show up in the playoffs at all this year because he didn't make it despite being in the East.

Rockets didn't have the balls to hire Kelvin Sampson as head coach what makes you think they will hire Mark Jackson? They only hire certain types of coaches that have no track record of success coaches like Mark Jackson won't get that kind of chance with the rockets. Mchale is being used to lure in star players he's just a face and a puppet... he and they know that. I would be surprised if Lowry came back... but Lowry is too disciplined for this team he actually has to play in a system that actually makes sense.

Bill Ingram makes up stories. He has no credibility at all.

    To say the least.

J.R. committed the sin of posting the dude's crap. But it shows how dry the Rumors River has gone. Well, make that Rumors Bayou.
