http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mdjgzkm I created a standalone post earlier in the evening which thoroughly goes over the outcome of this trade, but I suggest dumping off Asik, Lin, and D-Mo to the T'Wolves for Ricky Rubio (pure PG starter), Kevin Martin (6th man, familiar face), and, for salary's sake, I included Nikola Pekovic (backup C). Granted, that might be too much for even the Wolves to chew, unless they wanted to dump Pekovic, what with Dieng doing so great in his stead.
based on what i'm seeing the nets trading dwill to rockets would work. rockets need an experience pg and lin needs somewhere he can have more time on court and work with an ex all star nba pg in kidd
Maybe I missed it, but why isn't Boston seen as more of a threat to acquire Kevin Love. I see lopsided trades where they give away Rondo, but they actually have pieces to get him help rather than trading him. I think the best attainable players for the Rockets this offseason/upcoming season will be Lowry or Millsap.
Asik + Casspi for Ersan Ilyasova and Zaza Pachulia and Lin + 2014 & 2016 (lottery protected) 1st rounder for Rondo Sign PJ Tucker with MLE Lineup: PG: Rondo / Beverly / Canaan SG: Harden / Daniels / Garcia SF: Parsons / Tucker / Covington PF: Ilyasova / Jones / DMo C: Howard / Pachulia / 2nd Round pick I'd prefer to get Millsap/Horford instead of Ilyasova, but it doesn't seem like ATL and Morey have close enough valuations to make that work.
You guys do NOT want Felton. Apparently he may miss some time due to some gun charges. No way Morey takes him either..
That first one seems realistic but then you went fantasy on that Rondo one. Our picks are ****. Period.
If we want Ilyasova we can probably acquire him for Lin and Jones. He's on a long-term deal. He wants out. And Milwaukee would probably take a young prospect (Jones) and Lin's contract to move Ilyasova. By the way, Ilyasova had a totally sucky year last year. But I'm still sold on him being a very good fit here. And if we couldn't get anything else done I wouldn't be opposed to adding him this off season in a deal like the one I suggested above while retaining Asik. You never know. Two turkeys on the same team may be the ticket to a deep run in the playoffs.
Howard and Lin need to go... Howard is way over paid for what he brings in todays NBA. 20+M/year for someone that lacks fundamental parts of his game -- he is a liability for the TEAM at times -- that is NOT a MAX PLAYER ("prime to prime+ part of his career") There are a lot of younger centers on MUCH better contacts. That could play the same ROLE (Asik, Adams, Lopez to name a few) These players are not near the player he is, BUT would be 18 - 10M less a year. That is a lot of money to HELP the TEAM Lin IS worth 3-5M a year, IMO.
wow the only player. It is not the 80's, 90's or even the 00's any more. The NBA is a gaurd driven league now - FACT. We need help in so many other places... PG's (one for sure) SF's (Parsons / Buddinger starting for lessthan 1M/yr is unheard of. Asik is a soild player on a fair/good contract. Think about it... Asik makes about 9 to 10M less than Howard. The drop off between the too is not that much. 10M is A LOT of money to help retool this team. plus if we can dump Lin, that is close to 2X max money (if the players are younger - Monroe + a SF). three max players with some flex for some better role players) Howard is a wonderful player BUT with Lopez yes Robin Lopez covering him he didn't GO OFF. like say LMA did on us. One is a all star the other is a super star.

If Asik could play offense as well as Howard, he would be max player, period. That is your drop off. I dont understand what you watched because Howard did his thing in all but the first game.
I watched the same thing you did. Howard can't / want FINISH games like a max player should. If Asik played next to a superstar/all star / soild "right fit" PF it would not matter when TEAM bball is played (think Robin Lopez but better). Asik will NEVER be a max player because of his hands and that is okay -- he is all we need at center and a soild back up with flashes of things to come (think Jorden Hill as a Rocket or even now type - heck even DMo). That is about 15M/yr vs 32M/yr. 17M = 1 MAX Contract or 2 starish players or 3 soild vet types. ANY way DMtheGM spent the cap space we would still be playing (even with Kevin "play harder" Mchale as the coach)- FACT. C. Billups and C Landry (both FA last season)+ 6M more to spend less Howard = a better TEAM.
I strongly agree with trading Lin + 2014 & 2016 (lottery protected) 1st rounder for Rondo. Seriously, they really need a great ball handler/elite defender and passer right now. BUT, getting Ersan and Zaza, no freakin' way man. Besides, in my opinion, we still need an above average rim protector and center to compliment/back-up Howard in case he gets injured (like what happened this season when Howard missed almost 10 games, I think?) In my opinion, they should train and improve D-mo to be a good back-up for Howard. I mean he's young and has a potential like Jones. His 3-point shots and hook shots are good, but then again, really needs a good playing time and experience to improve. If that happens, we can trade Asik before he turns 30. The only problem is his salary, ughh.
Asik to Phoenix Suns Love to Houston Rockets 1st rounder (Suns), Jordan Hamilton and 2nd rounder (Rockets) to Wolves Then we trade either something (incl. one of PF's, probably Bulls would be interested in Donuts since Mohammed retired) for Dunleavy to Bulls. Draft some center, like Jusuf Nurkic (if he can come into NBA coming season) and sign some vet. center (maybe Camby again?) Howard/Nurkic/Camby Love/TJones Parsons/Dunleavy/Covington Harden/Garcia/Daniels Beverley/Lin/Canaan Now we have pretty good starting five and bench should score lots of points. Balanced team I should call it.
