I'm not a fan of Kubiak as a head coach - I've wanted him gone for years. But it doesn't mean he's terrible at everything. He does have a long history of getting the most out of fairly limited QBs. But that's all besides the point - my only point is that there's no history of BOB being some kind of QB guru. I have no idea why people just assume he can work miracles with a Fitzpatrick or Savage. Maybe he can, but it's purely all speculative at this point.

I believe Shanahan/Kubiak are more running back gurus than quarterback makers. Just look at their history with running backs. Davis, Portis (who wasn't the same in Washington as he was in Denver), Foster (don't know how he will be with his health and Kubiak gone), Morris and they've always had run based offenses and would take a guy off the street and get a thousand yards out of them.

But I agree. Shouldn't expect miracles out of O'Brien his 1st year out. 1st time head coaches don't always have winning seasons their 1st year.

Jake Plummer actually had some good moments in Arizona.

O'Brien also worked with Thad Lewis. So it's a couple of guys who may not look the part but are able to get jobs in the NFL that have crossed the path of O'Brien. I have no faith in Fitzpatrick but I do have a glimmer of hope for Savage. But at least O'Brien has a track record of working with young quarterbacks. Kubiak does not. He has a history of working with quarterbacks who've already been coached by NFL coaches.

Legends are made in the playoffs. You have guys who only care about the money and guys who want a ring. And Dre isn't a sure bet to get in the H.O.F. either.

So if he has to waste his career away going through another rebuilding process and don't have a chance at a ring and possibly hurt his chances of getting in the H.O.F. _ it may just be about the contract ("Pay me to stay"), even though he said he hasn't approached the Texans about a contract. But I bet if he was traded to a contender he would restructure his deal to help the team he was traded to and take less.

Yeah I see what your saying. Good points. I'm just so against Kubiak because I know what he is without Wade Phillips as a defensive coordinator and in the 3rd year where Wade's defenses falter Kubiak was exposed once again. I know your speaking in terms of him developing project type qbs.

BOB only worked with Lewis and McGloin at the college level, and each for only one year. And BOB only worked with Lewis as a freshman in college, 7 years before he made it in the NFL. Beyond that, TJ Yates and Case Keenum have had at least as much NFL success as either of those guys. All of them are fringe NFL QBs at this point, though - so I'm not sure any of them are a measure of QB guru-ness.

FWIW, Kubiak was with Brian Griese from the start in the NFL.

    Griese. Yea, forgot that.

    I'll still take O'Brien.

Just thought this was an interesting point for conversation. Dick Butkus, arguably one of the greatest LBs to play the game, has never made the playoffs in his HOF career...

What does putting up "damn near 1600 yards with a trash ass QB" have to do with Andre Johnson's actions this offseason? I think they call that a non sequitur.

I think his point is that Case Keenum was able to get Andre close to 1600 yards...therefore, Case is much better than he's given credit for. As a result Case should be our starter going into the 2014 season.

If that was what he was trying to get at, it would make a lot more sense than trying to tie his comments to the conversation at hand.

I never said O'B was a qb guru. You have average qb's winning sb's who play within the system.

Hell no you gonna take your ass somewhere thats best for you and your family. Andre wants to wing a ring before its all said and done.

Big baller, if you dont understand that Andre only really has 1 year left on his contract, then it's pointless to continue...

This is 95% about the contract and 5% about winning.

You're missing the point of Andre's rant, pimpn.

I think the point you miss is that he absolutely did do something wrong, however, I don't doubt that you fail to see it pimpn.

Yes, please be done with this conversation. Everyone capable of understanding what is going on already does.

Pimp I posted a link that says otherwise. Not only that but on 610 and 790 they were talking about Andre has 3 years left on his contract. When I get home I will re-post that link again.
