A good lawyer will get him off...other students are seen using their cell phones to record the event. You can't take one & not them all.

Still doesn't excuse what he did though.

That young highschool girl said it best: "disgusted that other students didn't step up to protect that elderly woman."

That's horrible. The saddest part of all is, kids want to act like rowdy fans, rather than intervene.

Thinking she asked the entire class to stop video taping, yet the teens in the class continued to harass the woman. She ended up taking the phone of one such student that ended up becoming violent.

Just because others are video taping the incident, doesnt mean that the student that assaulted the teacher gets off free...

so to recap Aldine ISD in recent news:

in a middle school teacher is giving lap dances

in high school, a student is throwing a defenseless elderly teacher to the ground

    and that's only what's reported

Most grown men wouldn't, and physically couldn't, stand up to that kid, let alone skinny 10th graders.

The point is to protect the victim, not to stand up and confront the idiotic teenager... the goal is to get the assailant and intended victim from engaging...if you have done that, you have diffused a situation.

there is no defusing that, he wanted his phone and he wasn't going to give up until he got it... he proved that by shoving the teacher.

I would say he'd find it easier to go against a substitute who's a stranger to him, than a classmate. Perhaps some of them were even his friends. They could have also ran out for help, as soon as he bumped her the first time.

High school teens, more often than not, tend to be mindless sheep, prone to a clique mentality... among other anti-individuality influences...

They'll rarely get involved to help each other out (unless part of the clique), least of all, a teacher...

SMFH. NO RESPECT. Anyway, for those speaking about the students not reacting; That is a big ass dude. And if he is willing to push over a lady, imagine what he would do to a male kid. The students probably knew this already and decided to not step in. I can understand to a point.

Wow, seeing the height and weight of the kid, I'm not surprised nobody went up to stop him. Unless there was another 6'3 kid in the room, I doubt anybody was going to step up, especially since it was a substitute. At least he had the shame to turn himself in.
