No a texans fan just keeping it real. Andre's mind is Andre's mind. We are 0-0 in my book but I haven't been playing for the texans for 12 years.

Fair enough. I think anyone who looks at this team as a 2-14 team is being intentionally pessimistic, maybe that's where Andre is right now, but someone needs to slap him and get his head straight. I'm not picturing many people being up to that task so I think it falls on JJ Watt.

If he would have said this year's ago I could see... I still understand now but it's just bad timing when you fully knew the changes were taking place. I understand where Bill O'brien is mentally too. He is doing his best to prepare this team to be their best. No BS everything is about the team.

Well it just doesn't make any sense, Andre doesn't stand to gain anything by this. If anything, he's hurting himself. I don't mind that he's doing a bit of whining after a let-down season, but he shouldn't be doing so publicly. It's just weird that someone considered the ultimate team player would turn into such a diva as soon as the franchise gets a team oriented coach.

This team has the talent to turn it around.

I wouldn't be shocked if we were back in the playoffs.

    Clowney/Watt/Nix/Cushing/Joseph/Jackson/Jungle Swag

Great core on D! Better coaching as well!

If you don't have blind faith in this organization you must be a Titans or Cowboys fan... I guess Dre is too...

If you get consistently disappointed enough times eventually pressure busts pipes. Titans and Cowboys are in a worse spot then we are... that's the lukewarm middle. I would hate it even more to consistently settle for mediocrity.

Is it really being a diva? This guy has given this city and franchise everything that has been asked of him. Blood, sweat, tears and patience.

If you were stuck losing year after year for 3 out of your 12 years, do you think you might become frustrated finally?

he's been thru this new coach thing before, where did it get him?

I think he's just finally to that point where he feels he's wasted his career and has nothing to show for it. (I dont count the money, because we all know thats not what the problem is in this instance). He's got zero super bowls, zero afc championships and 2 playoff wins.

Down the road are people going to rip lebron because he went to miami and ran of 4 or 5 or 6 straight championships? No...

Down the road will it be held against Andre that he didnt get a ring or only made the playoffs twice? I bet it will.

Yes, it's being a diva. It's pretty close to the exact definition actually, one of the definitions is "prima donna" which refers to the top opera singer or....

Clearly he thinks he is too good to go through the changes the team is going through like everyone else on the team. Now we can go back and forth arguing what he "deserves" or what he doesn't deserve, but it's pretty clear that he thinks he "deserves" more than anyone else on the team who is content to work well as part of the team in an effort to make the Texans as good as they can be. It's weird, for his entire career, he's been a "team" guy, but now the inner prima donna comes out.

They may not be another 2-14 team but let's not delude ourselves into believing that this is a potential 10 win team either. They have a long tough road ahead of them as BoB is going to completely retool this team to reflect his idea of what pro football is about. And last I looked, that vision is VERY different from the kind of team Kubiak put together.

As for AJ, your attitude is both arrogant AND condescending. All you and the rest of those here attacking him care about is keeping him playing for the Texans. Well, it's not quite that simple. I want him back also but I want him to want to be here. I can TOTALLY relate to what he's feeling and saying. He'd be a fool if he didn't harbor some doubt about the situation. He's about to face his 3rd team rebuild in 12 years and that is a LOT to swallow for a warrior like him because by the time the Texans are good again, he may be long gone. This strikes me as the Dan Pastorini situation part deux. As far as I'm concerned, AJ has earned the right (in spades) to doubt this organization because they have most certainly done nothing to deserve a pass. I have great hopes for the BoB regime but no longer will I rely on blind faith. It's all about the results from this point onward.

Let's take this part by part.

They absolutely are a potential 10 win team. Potential being the key word. Take a look at the schedule, there are plenty of win-able games. You aren't starting out very well.

They are in the NFL, NOTHING takes a "long" time. You can go from the best team in the league to the worst in 2 seasons, and the opposite is also true. If you look at the Texans roster and don't see a ton of talent, I don't know what to say really other than you should probably focus on a different sport.

Go on, this should be fun.

Well.....yeah. Texans fans generally care about the Texans. Why would I care about anything else?

It absolutely is exactly that simple.

I've tried to care less about what he "wants" on numerous occasions, can't do it. He "wants" to get paid, he "wanted" that contract so he should suck it up and stop being a whiner.

I don't disagree, but there is a difference between harboring some doubt about the situation and going to the media asking if this is where he wants to be.

And the best way to ensure that is by NOT being there for the team helping them through the process. He's stuck on the team, he's under contract and the deal he signed makes him essentially not tradeable. His options are to either
    1. Make the best of the situation and work to help the team get back in contention as soon as possible

    or

    2. Whine about the situation and still be stuck on the team.

I get it, you think he is the prima donna and he should act like it. I disagree. The franchise has done right by him several times over and part of the reason they had to let key guys go was the cap situation HE put them in by having them rip his multi-year deal up and make him the highest paid WR in the game.

Part of the reason for the Texans failure is Andre Johnson, he can't contribute to the failure then whine about it.

No one is asking you to rely on "blind faith", they are asking you to not rely on "blind pessimism". The team has the talent to be in contention for the playoffs THIS year especially given the weak division they are in and their weak schedule. Going from one extreme to another isn't any way of reaching an objective opinion.

Diva? Seriously? You have NO clue what a diva is - Terrell Owens is a diva. Richard Sherman is a diva. AJ is the antithesis of what a diva is supposed to be.

And where is your proof of this? I'm guessing that you have nothing solid to go on just your own unfounded assumptions. Calling him a prima donna is the biggest of stretches and is totally unfounded in this case. Rather that throw stones at the guy, how about a little empathy here? I TOTALLY understand what he's feeling. I, myself, once went through 5 corporate reorganizations and in the end all of us who stayed the course and believed in the company line were shown the door. As Murphy once stated: "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished".

So you are arguing with the definition by listing others who fit the definition....

Sure Andre Johnson historically has been the antithesis of diva throughout his career, but not this off-season. Just because you act one way for 11 years before acting differently doesn't mean that you didn't change.

My "proof" of what? That he thinks he is too good to go through rebuilding again? You've as much as said that YOU think he's too good to have to go through rebuilding again.....

    That you've echoed...

It's really not if you know what it means.

So, in short, you think I should "show a little empathy" for the fact that he's clearly too good to have to go through rebuilding again despite the fact that he hastened the rebuilding process with his contract?

We can talk about "winning" all we want, but to get to the true heart of this ordeal you need only follow the numbers.

Andre is currently on a sweetheart deal where he is one of the top WR's in the NFL and he's going to be 33 this season. If for any reason he should have a down year either due to injury or decline, the Texans can cut him after this season and he wouldn't make anywhere near what he is accustomed to making. He wanted a new deal to ensure that he wasn't going to go through the BS of a new regime only to be assed out at the end of the year.

Andre isn't an idiot, he knows he won't be traded or cut this season, it's not possible under the cap really. He's only bringing this BS to light for the exact same reason he did last time, to influence a new contract giving him financial security for the next few years.
