You gotta look pretty far back to find an instance where pancakes was wrong! Wait, why was he eating his newspaper the other day, is he broke?

Every once in a while though, I hear pancakes going on a national show or somewhere and be introduced as "Houston Texans Insider" or "Houston Texans Expert." And other teams' forums would sometimes use his quotes as "info from the other side."

And this isn't limited to McClain. There are similar journalists from other cities whose articles are posted here and be taken like they're actually news, but you check the boards for those teams, and they just dismiss such articles immediately due to the writer being a hack. It really is only the diehard fans that check historical accuracy when it comes to news articles. McClain's reputation from outside of Houston probably isn't that bad.

It would be a smart move to trade Dre. We are rebuilding and we might as well get something for him while he still has value. Smart teams trade players before they hit the wall. He is 33 and will start to decline soon or suffer from more injuries. And most importantly he doesn't want to play here which means he will probably not be giving max effort.

It's not even "hate" the guy is a clown. Calling a clown a clown isn't "hate".

Calling him "pancakes" is a clear cheap shot at his weight; in which it doesn't take Einstein to understand that he struggles with.

Making fun of him for being obese is such low hanging fruit...

John McClain might not be right all the time, but he's definitely a good ambassador for the city of Houston & the state of Texas.

Calling him "Pancakes" has nothing to do with his weight, I guess you are new.

There are several stories, some comparing the way he flip flops to a pancake other myths about the creation of the nickname stem from an ordeal on the set of an Adam Sandler set where there was a pancake eating contest. The first is more accurate, the second is more entertaining.

If you want a prime example of his flip flopping, look at how he started out saying that there was no way the Texans would pick anything but a QB with the first pick, then by the end he was talking about how it was going to be Clowney. He's nothing but an outlet for the Texans to spread misinformation and propaganda. I have nothing against him personally, but I don't in any way value anything he has to say in relation to sports.

    that's fine... it makes sense.

but, i'm sure at least 90% of the people who use that name have no clue of the above & think it's derogatory.

Well, it's meant to be derogatory.

If I remember correctly he acquired the nickname via a hacked off and frustrated Jayson Braddock and his twitter account (due to Mcclain's inattentive and haphazardly way of reporting) several preseasons ago.

Well I know it goes back at least 5 or 6 years, it might even pre-date LDJA12.

Nobody. If we trade Andre, we are trading away our #1 WR who would have helped our QBs tremendously. Would definitely hurt us this season.

I think it's frustration setting in. They will calm him down and he will see that we aren't that far off from contending again. Yes the QB situation isn't ideal but if the rest of the pieces are being built we might have a chance to be in the playoffs sooner than we expect.

It's not about who you pick it's about getting rid of a disgruntled aging star with a huge contract.
