It's kind of like asking if the Rockets should hire Gregg Popovich as a trainer. JVG is ridiculously overqualified for the position. It's not really a matter of if the Rockets should or not -- it's whether JVG would have any interest whatsoever.

Yea, on a serious note its not that the rockets wouldn't jump at the chance...its that JVG would never accept.

Putting yourself in a position such as an assistant coach usually means you weren't good enough as a HC and makes it tougher to get HC jobs further down the line. In the interest of his future, it would just be a terrible career move for Jeff if he did. Besides, we love him broadcasting and homering it up:cool:

This would be like hiring Larry Brown to work under Vinny del Negro.

Some kind of teaching role that isn't full time, etc. could be helpful. Still need that full time defensive assistant. But could you also have a heavy training camp, once a week, heavy pre-playoff injection of JVG, allow him to still do ESPN, etc.

This would be like hiring Red Auerbach to work under Danny Ainge!

This would be like getting Tom Brady to be Ryan Fitzpatrick's backup!

This would be like getting LMA to be Terrence Jones backup!

This would be like.... (I'm mad now! LMA reference!)

JVG is most likely making more money while doing less work than every assistant coach in the NBA (except maybe Lawrence Frank, who is sitting home "writing reports"). So I don't think he would have any reason to take this job.
