    Ainge rapage.

Terry sucks, KG is old, and Paul Pierce has been average at best.

The posts in this thread are laughable. "EPIC team" lol

The Nets had some key injuries this season but their failure proved yet again that getting a bunch of way-over-the-hill superstars will not make a contending team. Athleticism is much more important in the NBA today.

Also I hope KG retires. It's sad to see the player that he has become today.

The nets were pretty injured. Actually, they were REALLY injured. Even then they were one of the top teams the 2nd half of the season. That being said, its clear that Ainge fleeced them. He tried the same with us when he tried to get a post ACL rondo for 2 1sts/Parsons/Asik---A lopsided trade as much as I want rondo.

At the end of the day, this may have been one of the most lopsided trades in history. This was a poker move all the way: Knowing when to hold 'em and knowing when to fold 'em... also, acting swiftly on another person's desperation.

I would be sick if the Rockets were in a situation like the Nets'. No future. No hope. Constant injury concerns. No picks. Just awful.

It does look pretty bad in that light. But the Nets accomplished one additional thing, they established themselves as clearly better than the Knicks. Unseating the Knicks as NYC's better team is no minor accomplishment.

Pierce and Garnet will find a way back to Doc Rivers. And suddenly Clippers get richer. :/

Call me crazy, but I think the Nets need to give it another go around next year. I think it takes any team at least a year to gel and the team that was on the floor at the end of the season was an entirely different and improved team than the one that started it.

IMO this team isn't really that far away from being good, and worthy of going far in the East. Had they got the Pacers in round 2 instead of the Heat, they'd be in the Eastern finals.

-Also- No way KG retires. He has 12 million reasons NOT to retire this Summer.

-Livingston & Pierce are both free agents. You need to bring back Livingston.... Pierce...meh... I'd TRY to bring him back if you can.

-Lopez only has two years left on his deal. If you can find a taker for him I think you move him.

-Put Plumlee in the starting lineup. That guy is really good. Give Kirilenko & Teletovic more minutes at the PF spot.

Their draft pick situation sucks. I get that, but I just dont think this team is really that bad even with an aging KG & Pierce. KG is still worth while as a solid defensive & rebounding presence. They could be a very good team next year.

The Nets got screwed on horrible officiating in that elimination game. How can you compete when it's 8 on 5 on the court?

When Garnett retires, Plumlee will have to learn how to shoot and do post up moves if they plan on keeping him.

Brutal! Plus Gerald Wallace for Damian Lillard. Just incredible!

When has a "go get the old champion" resulted in a team getting to the finals. I am having trouble thinking of an example.

Old Gary Paton contributed to the Miami Heat in 2006, I guess. But Miami didn't mortgage their future to get him and he wasn't a big contributor, for the most part.

But when has a team made a major trade for an old guy or some old guys and been richly rewarded? It definitely didn't happen for us when we got Barkley.

Moses Malone went to the Sixers and brought them a championship, but he was still at or just barely past his prime. He was still playing at a very high level.

Maybe old Chamberlain helped the Lakers, but I have no idea what they traded to get him. That Lakers team had a lot of firepower anyway.

How the heck did he get playing time over Plumlee in the PlayOffs? I know Plumlee can't shoot but him in the front line along with AK47 could have made it a more difficult situation for the Heat.

Memo to the Rockets, take a page from Spurs - develop some young players on your own, instead of trading half team every year hoping to get all the finished products to "steal" some success.

Yeah, Moses even went on to win the MVP right after he was traded! Still the only player two win consecutive MVPs with different teams.

As for your question, does Karl Malone + Gary Payton on the Lakers count? They went to the Finals

They put themselves in that position though.

No way they would come back from a 3-1 series deficit against the Heat.

    Its all Deron Williams' fault.

DW wanted players around him. Nets got DWill some over-the-hill veterans to keep him.

And DWill is no longer a player to build a team around. Fail..
