I got in the left lane and sped up just a bit. I signaled and the driver probably let off the gas a little and I jumped in ad sped up o help him a little for helping me. The tahoe in front was close at first but they started pushing once the car in front of them passed the work vans and moved over. Car was going the speed I was comfortable with so once I passed, I moved behind them. Of course I did, to pass safely. I wasnt greatly exceeding the flow, nor was I even the lead car, or fastest car. Like I said, he probably just picked the 02 accord over all the new models in the group to try and find weed or something.
just do defensive driving and have a little cousin, nephew, niece or friend do it for you for $20. best money spent
i keep hearing about this deterred education thing for speeding tickets. can someone tell me what it is about?
They have no legal obligation to move to the right. If they did, they would have gotten a ticket for it. Stacking up every non-speeding driving in the right lane is dangerous too.
God, I read this thread and felt like it was bad karma. I head out to lunch and am on the freeway. Sure enough...a cop is in a new place poking his pig head out his cop car with the gun. I was doing like 73 in a 65. I thought I was toast for sure. I think I might have applied enough brakes before he got the laser on me or he just let it go. Remind me to stay out of these threads. They are bad luck.
How would they get a ticket for moving to the right for faster traffic. Its all about flow anyway and at that time they were blocking it. There is a reason why 59 was clear in front of them. There was only one lane able to pass at the time until some cars got into the exit lane on the right.
May have something with the bolded part. I have a couple of Camaros. A 1999 Z28 and a 2013 SS. I was out late on a Saturday Night I was in the Z28 and the car is loud and has a racing stripe on it. I drove past a cop and made a legal stop at the stop sign and boom on go the cops lights. Cop pulls me over and sees I am a middle aged guy with a teenaged son in the car. He said I had a tailight out but I could go with a warning. It was one of those tiny parking lights on side of the car. He let me go after I showed him my insurance. Another time, in the SS. I was driving down a frontage road and saw 3 cops spread eagle searching a guy on the side of the road. I was curious as to what was happening since the guy looked like someone I knew and made the block and passed by at the speed limit. Next thing I know, all 3 cop cars come barreling after me. They pulled me over. I asked what I did. Cop says... "Why did you drive in that neighborhood and pass by us again?" I said, "I was driving by and thought the guy you were searching was a friend of mine but he wasn't." Then he says, "This is a bad neighborhood". Now I am agitated and said "Did I break a bad neighborhood law?" He scowled at me and let me go. I think they profiled me both times based on what I was driving thinking I was some young guy who may have a bunch of unpaid tickets, no insurance or drunk or high. It was a fishing trip both times.
The cop isn't going to care about how long you'd tailgated them for. You still tailgated them, which is dangerous, especially at highway speeds. You said yourself that you could see ahead of the two cars driving side by side. Why didn't you adjust your speed accordingly and speed up to pass them when you had the space to do so. If you would've done that, the cop probably wouldn't have ticketted you. The fact that it was only for a few seconds isn't going to justify tailgating the drivers in the right and middle lane in the mind of a police officer. Think about what he saw and then tell us that you don't deserve the ticket. The cop saw a guy getting on the highway going faster than traffic in the right and middle lane get dangerously close to the driver in the middle lane before cutting off the guy driving slow in the passing lane before then getting back into the middle lane. You should consider yourself lucky that he only gave you a speeding ticket. He probably could've been a dick and charged your with reckless driving.
Great post. I'm not sure why OP is attempting to construct the perfect story where there is really no defense to his erratic driving. Take defensive driving and do not multi-task while doing it. Houston thanks you.
Money saved and money stolen you mean. You were charging your customer for time doing something else.
I'll assume you're an adult. That said, you rely on the hangout for advice? I retract my previous statement
Just do Defensive Driving online or pay a lawyer to take care of it. The lawyer shouldn't cost more than $200.
Im doing defensive driving. My younger sibling will take the class. I can see where he was coming from. But i wasnt being too aggressive. Thats why he only gave me the speeding ticket. I'm guessing he thought he could find weed or something. He just said I moved over a little aggressive.
