or how about "You're not going anywhere, we can't trade you, we won't cut you, stop being a whiner and either help the team get as good as possible as quickly as possible or retire"

His stupid little temper tantrum didn't help anything, there was no reason for this to be public.

I actually agree with Remii that the Redskins are a good test. They aren't a world beater. Two years ago they were a surprise good team and then last year they were a disaster due to injuries, coaching, quitting, etc.

The reason they are a good test is because they roll in hoping for a bounce back year. Take care of business against that team and that tells me the Texans talent level is good enough to win games (like I think it is.) If they can't beat teams like the Redskins, teams where it can go either way whether they make the playoffs, then that tells me I'm overrating the Texans.

I agree, and to add on, I think that the Raiders and Giants are progressively more difficult games. The first 3 games next year will tell us quite a bit about the team.

I hope you guys DON'T believe it's NOT about the money.

Andre said nothing until his contract was denied.

Exactly. Winter was 3 months ago. Dre waits 15 weeks, then says something days after a denied contract. That's one hell of a gigantic coindence timing-wise.

That is the entire 3rd and 4th round of the 2011 NFL draft. I picked that year randomly become I figure that is a year that by now we should all know who turned out to be good, decent, etc. There are definitely some decent players in there, but are there any that are good enough that you'd trade Andre for the chance to guess right on players of that quality?

Personally, I don't really care what it's about. He's doing what good football players often do and it doesn't bother me.

What I think it comes down to is the fact that his contract is currently structured in such a way that the Texans would have to cut him next year. $16 million cap hit. He knows that so this is his opportunity to either force a trade or sign a new deal that guarantees him money for a few more years.

I would not be shocked if the Texans work out an extension that locks him up for another 3 or 4 years with guaranteed money but lowers the cap number going forward.

NFL GMs get a hard on when anyone mentions draft picks. I don't think analysis ever comes into their thoughts.

True (and ridiculous) but I'm not talking to the NFL GMs, I'm talking to the fans in this thread who have a hard on about getting a draft pick for Andre.

Yea. Washington didn't have a 1st round pick but they made a bunch of moves in free agency on both sides of the ball and revamped their offensive line... D-Jax isn't the only free agent player they picked up. And pulling Trent Murphy and Moses out the draft wasn't bad at all. It's going to be a good test for the Texans defense and a good test for the Texans offensive line.

I don't think the 1st half of the schedule is as easy as people make it out to be.

Washington didn't have a number one pick but they do have a quarterback who may well be of the franchise variety. Of course we have Ryan Fitzpatrick so yeah.

You should listen to the entire interview. He said he didn't approach the Texans about a contract or a trade. Someone asked him a question on how he felt and he answered it. He also said he already talked to the Texans about how he felt. So we're just finding out what the Texans already knew.

I think quite a few of us agree. It's a good first matchup that hopefully shouldn't overwhelm the team and give them a chance to win. I would rather be facing RG3 at the end of the year when he is hurt. Facing a fresh Griffin? Yikes.

As it stands now, he's going to be a 16 million dollar cap hit next season...in other words, very high chance he gets waived or has to restructure.

Yes, it's always about the money.
