If your dog just doesn't have that nature, then I'm sure walking him without a leash is fine. Other people are more likely to avoid you anyway, when seeing a dog without a leash. But if your dog happens to do something bad to someone / something, and the matter is resolved without needing to put your dog down, I bet you'd put him on a leash in the future. And using the dog park isn't that great of an example, in your first post. Most of the time, one's dog is preoccupied with all the other dogs to care about people.
I have a dog and understand it is good to let a dog have some freedom, but there are these dip****s dog owners who decide to let their dogs off leash on a running path/trail in the forest. Often the dog comes snapping at me when I run by. The rules of the running path/trail clearly state that dogs are to be leashed. These are irresponsible pet owners on par with run of the mill street thugs. If I got bit by their dog I would probably knock out the owner.
Someone has to unspoiler this for the cfnet backdrop by Harrisment! <img src="http://imgcdn.geocaching.com/cache/abf61006-9d86-479c-8f9b-de191c56e200.jpg?rnd=0.1252711" width=600>
Cats are MF'ing ninjas. I have a cat that kills a handful of birds every month. Once he kill them, he eats their heads first and leaves their headless corpses in the middle of my yard for 24 hours before consuming the rest, presumably to terrorize the remaining birds. The next day he then consumes everything else but the feet and the bowels. I regularly find little bird feet next to a little bit of intestine - looking things around my yard. If my cat was as big as your goofy dog, it would be ****ing puma, and scared neighbors would immediately call the police to come out and kill it. Fun fact: The annual body count caused by domesticated cats is 2 billion 912 million. That's every yeat. more fun feline facts: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/cats_actually_kill .
It's remarks like these that keep reminding me that there are some people on this forum who can't feel good about themselves UNLESS they bash someone else! You make a terse hateful remark, and then you feel good about yourself? A remark that's based on a decision that I made which has absolutely no impact on yourself or anyone for that matter? SMH!! I gave my dog to a family friend who took good care of him until he died! I did it because I love my son MORE than I will ever love an animal, and because I didn't want to take a chance that the animal (my dog) would hurt my child! If you can't understand that, then there is nothing more I can say to you. (FYI) I have two small house dogs, a Maltese and a Chihuahua! I hope you don't lose any sleep over that.. ....... ....... .......
You could make a similar claim with just about anything. For example you could say 'If you hit someone with your car then I bet you would start taking a bus/bike to work'. Everything has its risks.
Awesome video - I am very impressed by that cat, regardless of its motivations. I love dogs and I own a dog. (My family also had cats when I was growing up). But no matter how well you think you know your dog, or how much you trust it, there is always a chance that it bite you one day. The predatory nature of the dog in that video is scary.
Picking up dog dook with a pooper scooper isn't really that hard. Let 'em dook, pick it up, place in container, throw away on trash day.
There might be something out there my cat could protect me from, but so I've confirmed it'd be way too scared of any of the following to do so: -turtle hatchlings -moving cat toys -small bugs
My rat terrier growled at a cat once and got scratched in the face. A year or so later he lost a battle with a squirrel. Poor dog thought once he grabbed the squirrel in his mouth, it was game over. The look on his face was one of pure pride and joy for a second or two, as he had chased squirrels his entire life and never even came closing to nabbing one until then. But then the squirrel bit down on his nose and he screamed like a girl until he was able to to shake the squirrel off.
