Huh, to each their own I guess. We must just like very different types of games. Because Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2, and Heavy Rain had just come out around then, among other things.
So now, it's an even playing field with the Xbox One and PS4 both being $399. People don't care about the ps4 being 'more powerful' - they care more about the games. As a PS4 owner, I'm not a blind fanboy, so I can admit that the Xbox One has better looking exclusives now, and in the near future. Every news about PS4 games seem to be about indies that I couldn't care less for.
Imagine if Xbox didn't go through the "always online" crap and Kinect, the landscape would be quite different today.
Hmm...I'm thoroughly enjoying my Xbox One. I get the criticisms, but I'm definitely enjoying it. Nice to see Microsoft listen to the consumers though, especially when they were looking especially tone deaf back when the console was getting released.
Yea I have a girlfriend and nieces and nephews that use it all the time so the Xbox one is definitely a good family system. If it was just me post college/later in college years I'd probably get the PS4 as a stricly gaming by myself system.
Sort of agree. The games are a much bigger factor than power. However, in the absence of enough exclusives I care about, I do start to care about power. And that's exactly the case right now. Neither system has an exclusive thus far that has moved me to buy a system. There are definitely multi-plats that I want, though. Better to play those multi-plats on PS4, from what I've seen. All going to be moot if the next Souls game really is PS4 exclusive, though (as has been rumored). Souls franchise > all other exclusives on both platforms.
Who do you think/predict has a better chance of producing exclusives that are going to be worth your time and money? Considering the fact that they are now equally priced and one has a slight advantage graphically would you feel one hundred percent satisfied with no buyers remorse if you buy a PS4? Would you even look the other way and see what your may be missing out on with the Xbox? Same question if you got the Xbox One over a PS4. We cant know what console will provide better exclusives but we can plan ahead and make an intelligent decision based on the last generation. In my opinion with an Xbox I wouldn't even worry about what's on PS4...
Based on last generation, PS3 had more exclusives I was interested in. Valkyria Chronicles and Demon's Souls were my favorite two games of last generation, and Uncharted was way up there too. Thus I'd go PS4 anyway. Regardless, I'm 99% sure I will eventually own both systems. I already own a WiiU, which I bought to play the upcoming X from MonolithSoft. I will buy a PS4 in 4 months-ish just to play the best version of Fifa 15 when it comes out, and to get the best versions of other multiplats like Assassin's Creed Black Flag that I've been waiting to play. And sometime after that, when the Xbox One has an exclusive I MUST have (for the 360 it was Tales of Vesperia), then I'll buy one of those too. And while I'm at it, I'll buy the other games that are nice-to-haves (Crimson Dragon, Dead Rising 3) that built up while I was waiting for the must-haves... on the cheap. Just like I bought Gears of War, Left 4 Dead, and Lost Odyssey when I got my 360. I'm a huge gamer. I'd shock no one more than myself if I didn't get both eventually. Especially now that MS appears to be ditching some of the things that annoyed me about the XBO previously.
Sony has Naughty Dog, which made some of the best games of the last generation on PS3, and possibly the best game of the last gen (Last of Us). Naughty Dog games are worth the price of the console. They are re-releasing Last of Us on PS4, so if you missed that the first time around, that game is probably worth the cost of the system. And Sony also has MLB The Show, which is without doubt the best baseball game available. It was MLB The Show that caused me to buy my PS3 in 2007. The latest version, unfortunately, didn't make many changes and is definitely not 'next-gen' so I skipped it. I am hoping that next year's game takes full advantage of the PS4 and they alter Road to the Show mode a decent amount to improve it. Demon's souls was also one of the greatest games of last gen. Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 aren't exclusives, though, and the PC version of Dark Souls 2 is by far the best version (I have it on PC and PS3). I really hope that Sony shows me an awesome exclusive before the next baseball game comes out...
Bravo, this is my favorite game of last gen. I imported and played it almost a year before the majority heard of it here. Replaying it right now and the game mechanics feel smoother than Dark Souls for some reason. In DaS, there is a little lag. Not sure if there's a frame rate difference or what. I think Uncharted 2 is my second fav. Comparing Xbox to Sonys games, the 360 came out on top initially, but the PS3 killed it later. When the 360 released Kinect, it felt like they stopped caring about the core gamers and didn't release much other than sequels to 3-4 franchises.
Hey I agree... Sony did have a lot of original content just before the end of last gen while Xbox just kept going to what works. This is either a good thing for Xbox owners because we will probably get new content soon on The One or a bad thing because we will still be getting the same old stuff.... Not that I mind Halo because its still my fav gaming franchise up there with The Elder Scrolls And Bioshock....
Xbone is $429 at Fry's right now. You can get it PM at other retailers. Thinking about purchasing one, but there isn't any games I'm interested in except Kinect Rivals. Edit: Through some deals, I purchased one today and I'm downloading my free game (Forza 5) right now. I'm off to a bad start. While downloading the OS? update, it froze at 44%, the second time I got a error, but the third time it finally worked. Took longer than I expected to download it, roughly 30 minutes each time. I've been downloading F5 for over an hour and I'm at 2% installed. At this pace, I'm going to have to leave it on overnight and maybe all day tomorrow. I knew all this bs about clouds and MS servers were crap. Shouldn't take more than a few hours at the most to download and install this since I have a 40 mb/sec down internet. I thought the camera on the Kinect would've been a big improvement over the og Kinect, but I can't really tell. The quality is on par with my PS4 camera, which isn't that good imo. I do like the OS layout better than the 360's.
Ok, I gotta say, the voice command stuff when you have your cable box going through the console is pretty damn awesome.
Been playing RBI baseball. Good time killer. Overall very pedestrian effort. Could have been so much more. They really need a good baseball game on xbone. I play FIFA14 more than anything, especially with the new World Cup additions to the game. Like the World Cup Ultimate Team. So fun to play. Not to mention working on your createaplayer and playing on world league teams. Anyone else want to play some games sometime? My 12 year old son now wants one to play dead rising. Should I try to get one used off Craigslist or just go buy new?
