Yeah, because Al Qaeda is opposed to mass murders and bloody confrontations. What a crappy article.

 

dealing with Boko Haram spouts from the same mentality as how people deal with what they term "extremist" or political Islam.

We also have governments ordering mass executions of hundreds of prisoners without even a fair trial---and one that likes to shove robot drones into foreign lands to double-tap and sometimes bomb civilian rescuers.

So what do you want to do with the group who kidnapped 200 school girls?

 

In this case, it's clear to me that bumping off the guys responsible for this madness would be a major plus. I just hope the girls are somehow rescued and returned to their families.

 

Bump off the animals responsible for the madness, cut off their heads and mount them on stakes in the villages of Africa... then take the rest of their bodies and defile them in public.

 

That might be a bit much.

 

Summarily executing them would be a terrible idea, that's how the group first turned from non-violence to violence (their leader was executed on live TV).

How about prison, and all they do is watch documentaries on how education has benefited all---then they get to watch video streams of the girls graduating, achieving etc.

 

Why? Some of them welcome death. It's not like they can see the errors of their way when they're dead either.

If your thing is making them suffer, I can't see anything worse for them then seeing those girls succeed, evantually. That's what the focus should be.

 

The key is the youth... too bad they are being brainwashed by the older generation. The only possible change that would serve long-term is an internal change. People here arguing for war on Islam are crazy.

 

I doubt Deckard's focus is on making his enemies suffer. In this case, death is an effective way to incapacitate these guys. They won't rehabilitate this way, nor will they suffer, but you won't have to deal with them anymore either.

My impression is that the youth are much more radical than the older generation. I expect things will change as their population ages, but they are in a baby-boom now.

I still don't think death is a good idea. No chance for "oh wow, I did have ****ed up beliefs"---also reinforces cycle of death for death and more violence.

 

Nah... we should kill them, so they are no longer and issue..... also as far as suffering, I think having them drawn and quartered in the middle of the village will be more "suffering".

Nigeria should trade their prisoners for the girls. It sucks to cut a deal with terrorists, but they have them by the balls. They need to get the girls back. But after that, they need to double-down on eliminating Boko Haram, who will only be encouraged to take more hostages.

The cycle can only be a cycle if you don't do it well. When the sides are evenly matched, the cycle can be drawn out and terrible. If one side gets a crushing victory, the cycle ends.

The suggestions of horrific deaths here are not wise, because it will cause people to demonize the government and make them join extremist organizations. Get your kills as expeditiously as possible on the battlefield, and the guys you capture go to prison, not the firing squad for martyrdom.

That's great news, especially that they captured 10 terrorists. I hope the powers that be are able to squeeze some information out of them, although it sounds like the villagers are far more competent than the Nigerian military. Perhaps they should leave matters in their hands, and simply give them some AK-47's, ammunition, and some grenades, maybe some rocket propelled ones. Easy to operate with a little instruction. Funny that those villagers haven't a clue that they've won some admirers around here.

So texxx, the OP, posts some of the usual slams against Democrats, and then blows off the thread. I guess he didn't get the response he wanted, or else lost interest in the topic. Tell me that isn't so, texxx! You should be keeping us all up to date on this developing story. After all, it is your thread.

Texxx, threads like this are a perfect example of why many people here don't take you seriously. You started this off well with your OP, and then immediately devolved your contribution (back on page 1) into being simply the usual slams against Democrats. It is pretty much all you do here and, with all due respect, it has gotten boring as hell. What happened to your interest in the kidnapping of these poor girls? It is awfully tempting to assume that you really didn't care about them at all, that you just wanted yet another thread with which to attack Democrats, as if they had anything to do with what happened, and as if they have done nothing to help Nigeria deal with this, which is simply not the case. One would think that you wouldn't want that perception to grow more than it has already.

Why should anyone take you seriously? Buck up, man. You could be a real asset here if you made any kind of effort at contributing more than your tired attacks on an American political party, using any excuse to do so, even if it makes no sense at all.
