It REALLY picked up after The Winter Soldier Glad the shook up the team as well. The Ward/Garrett angle is great Love that chick in the Flower Dress .. . she is so . . uhm . yea Rocket River
The really should have just started this series in January. They knew that they were gonna have to wait until CA came out to really start cooking. This show lost many potential viewers because the first half was so damn boring. It also has been scheduled head to head with NCIS, which is apparently the highest rated show on TV, it hasn't really been set up to succeed. It really has been like night and day since the episode where Skye was shot. I'm even liking the corny jokes now. Only shows I like more than this one right now are Arrow and GoT.
Awesome to see that ABC recognized just how much the show improved after its poor start and renewed it along with adding another Marvel show, this time Captain America spinoff "Agent Carter." http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/05/08/abc-shield-agent-carter/
Interesting . . . . . . very interesting Dunno how the Agent Carter show will roll out but I will give it a shot. Rocket River
Not much. They showed a bit of her show when they did the short film episode when Agents of Sheild was off for a couple of weeks. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/M_r0Lx3jhd0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
It still angers me they have the sound of pages flipping int he beginning. None of the movies had the paper sound, just music with the video of paper flipping.
Well, that was quite an ending to the season. Spoilered in case some of you haven't watched it yet. Spoiler I loved the way Whedon sort of snuck in the desensitized corporate 'handlers', the same sorts of guys who were in his 'House in the Woods' movie. That was fun. As for Garrett.. the obvious question would be - why did the 'wonder drug' affect him the way it did, but nothing (yet anyway) for Coulson and Skye? Maybe because Garrett was already using the Extremis serum, and perhaps that sped-up or advanced the effect of the drug.. ..and we see that Coulson, at the end, also 'sees' something, but of course we are left to wonder what it is exactly that he sees. Some kind of circuitry, or a machine, some sort of electronic design maybe? Jodie Foster in Contact, anyone? And Skye.. so maybe she's either not human at all, or a mutant of some sort.. but the revelation that her 'father' (a Chinese-town-destroying 'monster', according to the files) is alive and very interested in finding her.. of note, the report mentioned a father AND mother tearing up the town looking for Skye, but the end of the episode only shows the father, so there may be more to that than they are even showing us now. My bet is on alien, or alien-hybrid of some sort, and that would explain why the drug did not adversely affect Skye. And Fury makes his appearance, although I never would have guessed it would be him rescuing Fitz & Simmons from the middle of the ocean. Glad they both lived, although they have left it dangling as to whether Fitz returns - maybe there is a contract problem or something? As for the showdown with Garrett.. frankly it struck me as a little bit silly, having to shoe-horn SLJ into the scene, when the guy clearly doesn't even want to move a muscle any more. I'm really surprised he did as much as he did in Winter Soldier, but he looked pretty emaciated in this finale.. almost makes me wonder if he is ill or something. Anyway, the showdown as cheesy, but it was nice to see Deathlok turn on Garrett. The fight between Mai and Ward was good, I liked her stapling him to the floor.. lol .. and now if he is somehow 'redeemed', it will be far in the future, if at all. And lastly, I was thinking, oh here we go again, this is lame, when Garrett is seen escaping from the 'coffin' he was in, and then getting himself all armored up and dangerous.. making threatening faces and screaming about being invincible - only to have Coulson blast him to bits in an off-handed way.. LOVED it.. Whedon was poking us in the ribs with that one, well done. All in all, I am now eagerly anticipating whatever comes next. Oh, and what, Koenig is a clone? Or a LMD? Android? What's the deal there? I like that he is back, but there is clearly some kind of mystery there. Coulson gets to rebuild Shield, Skye is some kind of lurking monster, Fitz is going to be a who-knows-what, Quinn and Flowers got away with the Gravitonium, Ward is put away, Garrett is dead, Mai is trusted by Coulson again.. and Coulson definitely has *something* wrong with him, as we see in the very last scene.. All in all, it was better as a season and series than I expected it to be, and I can't wait for more.
I was kind of disappointed to be honest. For the cheese came back a little too heavy for my taste especially that bit at the end with... Spoiler Garrett Got better after Winter Solider event but still far from great, too me at least.
I enjoyed the season the last half saved the first half Garrett is a great character. . . Bill Paxon never fails I want to see how they go from here. Rocket River
I thought Paxton did a poor job of playing omnipotent Garrett. His mannerisms didn't seem all that different from regular Garrett.
Spoiler I thought the only change they made to Garrett after the injection was they made his pupils bigger. Everything else could've been normal Garrett speech. The bit where Ward realises he's going crazy was good though, and showing how much Ward depended on Garrett's orders too. The finale wrapped up nicely, great to see Jackson in the TV series, but he barely did anything. The two of them just stood there while Garrett was ranting about how powerful he would be lol. The May-Ward fight was brilliant, especially the nailgun to the foot. I wish she would've killed him though, but I guess they need Ward for a surprise appearance next season. I really enjoyed this episode, a strong ending hopefully leading to an even better 2nd season.
It wasn't spectacular, but it was a good enough finale to make me want to watch the next season. I just hope we don't have to wait too long for Skye's history to be played out. Not necessarily because I'm dying to see it, but because if they just keep hinting at it and teasing it every single week without showing us the goods, I might just abandon the series altogether. That kind of stuff is annoying.
The writings is in the episode where the black girl had a robot eye. I liked that scene because it was two guy sitting in a room on typewriters surrounded by maths and alien symbols. I think episode 4.
Good, but not great finale. Was honestly hoping for a little more after how good the 2nd half of the season had been. I'm certainly on board for next season though. Hope they can keep up the entertainment factor, I don't really expect masterwork from network TV, as long as they keep me entertained, which this show has been doing.
I finally got around to watching the good parts of Agents of SHIELD. I agree, they should have started this in January. The monster-of-the-week format really killed my interest, along with the poor acting, campy stories, and TV CGI. But the second half, the acting was better, the storyline became serialized, and it actually became interesting. It's peak was probably around when Captain America came out. Double agents coming out, not knowing who to trust, some good drama and reveals there. However, this show still wasn't a must watch, need to see the next episode, kind of feel for me. While good, it wasn't great. And the finale wasn't as good as the Captain America parts, which when it peaks too early, makes for a disappointing ending. Marvel integrating the show around the movies is very interesting, but I'm not sure I like it as I'm not one to watch movies on premiere weekends, and watching this show would've spoiled Captain America for sure. It's a different concept, but like I said, they have to handle it carefully in the future as people probably got spoiled and had some angst. The show was good in the second half. Hopefully they'll keep up the momentum in next season. I'll keep up with it, but it's not a must-watch for me yet.
