    Bissonnett and Hillcroft? You sure you didn't get a ticket for soliciting?

    Yeah I went that route with my first ticket. This one was my second.

    I had it deferred. Can't remember what it was called. It was only my second ticket and I'm 30.

    Deferred disposition maybe? Where if you don't get them often enough paying it off to was supposed to not show up on my history according to the person in the phone.

    Deferred = $226
    Defensive Driving = 133

    Difference = $93

    Defensive Driving in Texas is 6 hours mandatory.

    93/6 = $15.50 per hour (saved) to take Defensive Driving.

    My time is worth more than that.

    I did it while working on another project. Two birds with one stone. Money saved and earned.

    How much are these traffic lawyers? Would I end up paying close to the same anyway? I have a little sister who is about to drive, she could use that defensive driving course. Lol

    If you feel that the ticket was not warranted then Lawyer up. If you legitimately made a bad decision than bite the bullet and take defensive driving.

    $200 a day, bruh? I know every time I go to the airport I use a town car and it's around $100.00 including tip one way.

    I got a ticket by Webster police for going 5 miles over speed limit. I'm all for cops enforcing safety and all that, but come on man!

    Last time I took it, I took it at work and just worked in another window while the videos played. Took me half the time it said it would take and that was while I was multi-tasking.

    Yup, same here. Start it, drop the window and work on my projects. Answer some mundane, common sense questions for 20 seconds, rinse and repeat.

    I'd do defensive driving. A lawyer will get you out of it, but frankly, it sounds like you were in the wrong. I mean, you should be able to see ahead of you that there is traffic and leave a safe amount of space. You shouldn't have to tailgate somebody to speed up into the left lane. If I'm a cop, and I see somebody do what you did, I'd pull them over and give them a ticket. It sounds reckless.

    Cut deal with prosecutor..deferred judification. "You will get a 45 day probation period" no more tickets in the probationary period..it WILL come off ur record...but you will have to take defensive driving....

    What do you mean? The freeway was clear in front of the two side by side drivers and the slow one on the left. I didnt tailgate them. I just switched lanes and got close to those two in the middle when I did, but it was for like five seconds until I could make my way to the left once the gap came. Starting leaving space while behind the tahoe in the left and then moved over once I passed the work vans. I just don't like being boxed in.

    I just got a ticket for blocking an intersection on Hardy Street going into downtown (way before crossing Buffalo Bayou) during morning rush hour.

    Anyone that knows the area knows that:

    A. If you stop 30 feet behind the car in front of you (necessary not to block the intersection) on that stretch of road you are going to get smacked by the car behind you.

    B. There are absolutely zero cars coming out of the side streets of that ghetto so it is a really crappy thing for the pigs to stake out those "intersections" and serves no practical purpose outside of grabbing people's money.

    Not sure how to proceed.

    They should move to the right. They just create more traffic and its dangerous driving side by side.

    Sounds like you wedged your way in front of a car where the driver was trying to keep a reasonable distance between the car in front of him or her. Being too close to the car in front is how you get in an accident not avoid one.

    First thing that caught the cop's attention.

    Did you accelerate to pass the work van past 70? I'm guessing the cop looked at his speedometer and he was above the speed limit and saw you accelerating so he knew you were speeding.

    It doesn't matter what speed you were at once the lights came on. It's what speed you were going when the cop observed you speeding.
