Thank god for the tag. Although you hate to use it, because then you end up with a pissed off player on your team who will want to leave anyway.

I doubt it's necessary, the Texans have a long history of taking care of their guys monetarily and Watt will be no exception. Just because Andre Johnson is having a temper tantrum due to some sort of mid life crisis doesn't mean any of that has changed.

I never said Dre wanted the Texans to draft a quarterback. I don't know if he wanted them to do that. But we do know he didn't want the Texans to draft Clowney because he said he wanted the Texans to trade the pick when he was asked.

So... The Texans should pay more for a player who is already highly compensated during the years when inevitable decline takes place?

    Can I work for you?

Houston won't need those franchise tags, unless Watt refuses to sign a long term deal because "we don't have a QB" like so many are claiming.

The bottom line is JJ is not going anywhere. Especially with the Texans commitment to building around him.

    And to use it twice...???

That suggestion to franchise tag J.J. twice and Bobby's suggestion on what to do with Dre.... Smh.

Do not mix emotions with business.

The Patriots never do. Neither does Green Bay. Or Seattle.

Hence... Why they are in such great shape.

Regardless.. I was just pointing out that Watt can't go anywhere for 4 more years if he truly wanted to leave Houston because how the Texans handled Andre's hissy fit.

J.J. won't need to be franchised and I highly doubt Andre's temper tantrum will last long enough to where they'll have to take it to another level. The whole argument was about leverage and how Andre has none whatsoever. The fact that the Texans possess "nuclear options" will be enough to keep their guys in check unless they really lose their minds.

Watching the video of Andre's interview puts a little bit more context to the words.

I wouldn't be worried if I was a fan. I absolutely feel for him, but I don't think he's going to make trouble.

I think people worrying about him undermining BOB or needing to be traded are going way overboard.

BOB's college head-coaching experience trumps anything McDaniels did prior to his Broncos stint.

AJ is one of my favorite professional athletes of all time. I think he has earned the right to voice an opinion or two.

I've been talking about how the Texans can make him sit at home for 2 years, but if they REALLY wanted to screw him over, they could trade him to the Raiders. BOB needs to put a muzzle on him right now. I expect a retraction within the week.

Well it would be cruel. He's whining about the Texans so we ship him to the worst franchise in the NFL.

Sit for two years huh... No leverage huh...

O'Brien probably told Rick to trade Dre as soon as he heard the news.
