You aren't "hurting yourself" though, either scenario you don't have him playing for you so one isn't significantly better than the other. IMO it's better to show that you don't bow to the wishes of diva players than to give in and get some late round pick.

Andre might be a bella prima donna but he doesn't call the shots, allowing him to do so compromises the leadership.

Moss did not want to go to Oakland.

In fact, once he got there, he clearly regretted acting like a b!tch.

This. Let's see how this plays out. People out crucifying him because he speaks his mind to the media. He's a professional and he's getting paid handsomely... if worst comes to worst, his trade request (if he makes one) is denied, and he will still show up to work.

What kind of example is AJ setting right now?

There are leaders on every NFL team. It's clear that Watt is becoming the Alpha of the Texans.

I was expecting Dre to fall off in the next year or two anyway and or at least lose a step or two due to age. And I definitely wasn't expecting him to keep playing 16 game seasons either and wouldn't be worth his contract. Which is another reason why I wanted Sammy... D@mn I wish Dre would have pulled this before the draft.

But you're upset and not thinking clearly. The Texans are not obligated to trade him to a good team.

But McNair has always been classy. I don't think he would do what you suggest... And pay a guy for nothing to boot.

It wouldn't have changed anything. If he chooses to play in the NFL for the next 2 years, the Texans own him. Simple as that. Acting up would only hurt himself.

When you are always a classy guy who always does right by your players, betrayal isn't taken lightly.

Up to this point for Dre...

J.J. would be the Alpha on any team he would go to if he left. He probably already is here. But like I said. It's not about who's team it is. Most of those players (even J.J.) grew up under Dre. Dre is Big Bro in that locker room.

Dre stayed here in took the money and has nothing to show for it. The Texans better find a quarterback before J.J. becomes a free agent.

    Everybody keeps saying this...

Watt can't become an UFA for 4 years!!!!

It will behoove the Watt camp to sign an extension with Houston.

He becomes a UFA in 2016 unless we make a qualifying offer (we will).

What is special about 2018, though?

Dude just about anyone could be a dentist. But not just anyone can make it to the pros. A lot of people go a different route because they can't be pros... Just about everyone reading this board would have been a professional ball player if they could have.

Yes, they do. They own his NFL rights for 2 more years. You really shouldn't comment on that because I have an idea of the direction you'd try to take it.

The thing is, whether he intends to or not, AJ is very publicly and overtly undermining the HC's authority by essentially throwing a passive agressive temper tantrum. Letting that slide because AJ is AJ would then essentially be the opposite of everything the HC has been saying to this point, and would damage the regime further by making the HC appear to be a hypocritite and a blowhard.

At this point, I don't think you can have AJ just forget about it and let the whole thing fade away. The only way you can move forward with AJ is if AJ essentially humbles himself and state submission to the HC. Otherwise, AJ's presence is essentially a giant infected puss - oozing wound. Every time a player would see AJ, the HC would lose a little bit of his authority.

Or they could see just the opposite. They could see a future HOFer who tried to have the new HC and the FO bow to his will and they could see how that got him nowhere. However, if they give him his release or a trade, they see how the new HC and FO allowed an individual to run the show and dictate what was going to happen.

The original premise was ridiculous. Most anyone who goes to school and is functional can become a dentist. There are a 150,000 in the US. Meanwhile, there are 1700 players in the NFL. IT is ridiculous to compare the professions, considering pro athletes ('specially top picks like dre) are financially secure from the day they get out of college, have a unique talent and different priorities from what they want out of their career. this isn't about lifestyle, it's about your career. if you dedicated the first 32 years of your life to something you were one of the best in the world (THE WORLD!!) in, you should be allowed to want a shot at the trophy. dre should demand more money to play for an incompetent organization in his twilight years. who knows where he'd be if he had a brady or manning or young.
