If Andre asks to be traded, I don't have a problem with it. If the Texans want to try to accommodate Andre and work out a trade with another team, that's fine also. What I won't be happy with is if Andre decides to skip a mandatory practice in order to force a trade. He hasn't done that at this point, and I don't expect him to do something like that. But, that would make me unhappy.
dont understand this post. he signed multiple extensions because he wanted to help the texans win. they were supposedly building a contender with schaub and a defense with demeco and mario williams. over the past 3 years they let defensive players go, things got bad real quick, and he kept his mouth shut and played great. he's allowed to ask for a trade now. he's old so i'm fine with him leaving but i'm sure there are contenders who would give up MORE than a 4th round draft pick for him
He was always praised for being a team player, if that's no longer the case, why shouldn't his reputation take a hit for it?
He may also be unhappy about the new coaching staff's philosophies in terms of meetings, workouts, etc.
My day has been ruined by this... I would like to see him when a Super Bowl but I don't think i could handle him playing for someone else.
I bet he's not unhappy cashing those checks. That 1 million dollar roster bonus must make him cringe.
His problem is, there are no likely contenders outside of Denver, NE, SF, and Seattle, and he wouldn't be able to go to any of those teams. Carolina, maybe? Sick D, no wr's. Still can't imagine them getting through SF and Seattle though.
Have him play one more season. Then... Trade him for a 2nd rounder...and save 9 million on the cap. Use the 2nd on BPA....use the 9 million + another few million, on Brandon Marshall, Dez Bryant, Roddy White, Demaryius Thomas, etc... Winner, winner, chicken freakin dinner.
I'd think a contending team that is one piece away would give a 2nd. The Patriots, who are so close, just spent a 2nd round pick on someone that wont see the field for a few years, while the clock is ticking on Brady's career.
Naw... This Texans franchise has done nothing but take care of THIER guys. From Cushing, to AJ, to Rick Smith, Foster, Duane Brown, and soon to be Watt. For better or worse, this organization takes care of THIER guys. Hell, it took a 2-14 season to finally get Schaub and Kubiak out. No way AJ would've ever been run out of Houston.
yeah i think its kind of silly when players try and go to contenders because in the NFL things can change very quick... we could easily be in the playoffs next year and one of those "contenders" could fall off like a ton of bricks. I would hate to see him go to a different team and then that team suck worse than we do haha
Not a chance. Spending a 2nd round pick on a young QB you want to develop is common. Giving up a 2nd round pick for an old WR who wants out of his current team with an enormous salary is unheard of.
I don't like his whining. He's been paid millions of dollars to play football. Just shut up and play. Don't air out your dirty laundry in the media. yeah he's been a great player, but seriously bro nobody feels sorry for you -- you're getting paid millions to play a game.
The problem is, that isn't how it works. They have a CBA and it doesn't work that way. IT COULD, but the players CHOSE to not have that freedom. Andre had 5 years left on his contract and then CHOSE to sign for two more years on the end of it.
He seems to forget that they could potentially be back in the playoffs THIS year. Last season was hard, but they did lose 9 games by one score or less, it wouldn't take a lot of improvement to make last year into an 11 win season.
