A Cavs fan reaction to Mike Brown's firing.

If you can last though some of the drivel.....You'll see DukeDelonte13 start his rant on the first two pages.

The most telling to be though was this:

I REALLY, like this hiring if these things are true.

If he is brought in as an assistant, and only an assistant I would love the hire.

He's a bad head coach, but the man knows his defense.

    I like:

When he started coaching the Cavs in 2005, they 20th in the in defensive rating:
    2006: 5th
    2007: 13th
    2008: 2nd
    2009: 7th

So you are basic saying, after they got Luol, an all star player with good Thib trained defense, Mike Brown's coaching caused his and the team defense to go down?

Mike Brown is a good defensive minded coach, so why not bring him in. Los you said he is a motivator correct, therefore he could motivate our players to play solid defense while McHale continues to motivate them on the offensive end.

    just a question...

    Why can't McHale teach defense?

Sooooo McHale... What exactly would you say you do here?

    Right on the money!

This team needs a new blood who is willing to implement what works now, not something worked more than 5 years ago.

NBA offense is dynamic and evolving, yet Brown remains unchanged. Wake up Brown. Your Cavs days are long and gone!

I don't like the look of this. Give me Mark Jackson so he allegedly demote Mchale. Give me JVG as the defense coordinator to call all the bull****

Or maybe I'm saying when a player joins a team mid-season, sometimes that player would have trouble adjusting to a different defensive system since they never had a chance to learn it during the off-season and get used to the rotations.

    Luol Deng said that himself.

Great defensive coach. The history with Dwight gives me pause. If Dwight's in I'm in.

    Several fallacies in this thread.

#1 Brown is NOT a motivator, he IS an X's and O's coach.
#2 He WAS an elite defensive assistant but his system and style is no longer as effective in the modern NBA.

I blame it on Morey. Morey was the one who insisted on having his choice of assistant coaches as part of pre-hiring agreement. (Later chose Sampson as defensive coordinator and Finch on offense.) It's probably a case for not stepping over the boundary for McHale.

I love how everyone in this organization escape responsibilities. After failure of Adelman's tenure, Morey set up Les for hiring McHale. Just in case you missed this one: Morey went back to the last decade on all available coached/assistants and prepared their files for Les to review. They all probably had one thing in common; willing to agree to terms of Morey having his own assistant coaches.

McHale blamed their first round exit on defense. "Morey, this loss is on you and your inability to keep Sampson til the end of the season"

Morey hinted his blame on Les for upped his poison pill on Lin and probably for hiring McHale.

At the end of Florida summit, McHale, Morey, and Les had decided it was all Dean Cooper's fault.

I wonder if Battier would take a coaching job. After all he is retiring after this season!

Care to elaborate? What was his defensive system and what in the NBA has changed such that his system is no longer viable?
