Maybe it was only fitting, that with a part of Houston football history going down in dust, so did the Houston Texans season.
In the books: Astrodome a 'historic place' Whether on its way to demolition or not, the Astrodome is still picking up recognition. The National Park Service has named the domed former home of the Astros to its National Register of Historic Places. This past November, a $217 million bond proposal to redevelop the Astrodome was voted down, setting the landmark up for possible demolition. http://www.csnhouston.com/blog/astros-talk/books-astrodome-historic-place
Astrodome got historic status and this can never be demolished. County and rodeo are pissed. The amazing thing is that it was all done by two people that sent an application.
THE 2 people who sent in the application should be forced to pay for the restore. I bet it was easy for them to fill out an application while knowing they would not have to pay a dime
Turn the dome into an indoor amusement park. Build the largest indoor roller coaster ever and call it Home Run.
Would be GREAT to keep the Dome and use it. Nice, hopefully a use is found. The Dome should stand forever.
That's an old article. It has received a different designation since then. Efforts to make the Astrodome a State Antiquities Landmark took a key step forward Tuesday as the state Antiquities Advisory Board voted unanimously to forward the application to the Texas Historical Commission. Such a designation would prevent the Astrodome from being altered or demolished without approval from the commission.
Those two people are under intense pressure to remove their application. I would go into hiding if I was them,
