We would have put up a better fight against the Spurs. It also hows how a huge difference a great coach makes

    these are the wrong answers:

    would have
    could have
    should have
    if

    This is the right answer:

    DID NOT

Resounding YES for me. We match up well against the Spurs and shut them out in the regular season. I still believe the Rockets could have won this series convincingly had they advanced.

won the series against SAS is delusional, but I'm pretty sure we would have had the lead more than like 35 sec total the Blazers have had all series.

i don't know how Morey brings back Mchale after this beating by the Blazers, but Mchale will be back

Pop is a great coach but I'm still pretty sure we could have done well versus San Antone. We won 4 games against them including a very big Christmas day game that was something of a turning point for the Rockets this season. I'm not deluding myself, there's some indications that we would have done well in a best of seven with the Spurs. Of course, if we played the way we played at times against Portland, it's more likely they would have taken the Rockets out and pretty quickly.

Blazers barely got past the Rockets despite...

*LMA playing like a all-time great for the first two games

    *Hitting every shot

*James Harden being MIA for about 4 games out of the 6

    *ISO-ball

    *No defense

*Touch calls for LMA (with how many BS calls he got, a few points here and there could have won the Rockets the series)

It sucks that the Rockets lose to a team that just chucks up shots but...the Rockets just ISO and chuck up shots too so really the series as I said came down to who just shot better from the field at that time.

It definitely hurts seeing all the different defensive in game adjustments Pop makes and remembering it took Mchale 2 games to do anything remotely different. It hurts seeing a real offense with actual movement, as opposed to Moreyball. Had we had any effective half court sets, we'd won convincingly. San Antonio is a reminder of how far this organization is from being a contender

what is it with team names and apostrophes around here?

it's the Rockets' loss, not one Rocket and his loss.

and the Portland threads for crying out loud.

No doubt this team still need additional work, but coach has the major responsibility.

I'm just upset we are retaining MilkHair. His terrible coaching cost us the series. Pop would have made us beat Portland in 5.

using an analogy harden would applaud,
we are like street corner hookers when being compared to the $3,000 a night escorts the spurs are.

Damian Lillard Regular season 3pt 39%

Damian Lillard 1st round vs Rox 3pt 45%

Damian Lillard 2nd round vs SAS 3pt 8%

Where was our greatest defender ever Beverly? Huh?

We would have fared better than the Blazers against San Antonio purely based on match-ups alone, not on energy and certainly not coaching. The Blazers' two best players are at point guard and power forward, they're going against a team that sports two of the best at that position ("all time" best may be stretching it with Parker, but definitely one of the best currently in the game).

We would have presented a bigger match up problem for them based just on Dwight's existence. That being said, the Spurs' coaching staff developed a game plan to expressly attack the Blazers' weaknesses. They studied what their players could do well and what they couldn't. They forced Lillard through multiple screens, tiring him out, etc. They definitely would have come up with a different game plan and would have been well-prepared to exploit our many many weaknesses as well.

The Spurs are playing like a team possessed right now, and for such a veteran team that knows how to simply flip a switch in the playoffs, you can't take much from our regular season record against them. We would have done better, I don't think anyone can say with absolute certainty that we wouldn't also be down 3-0.

    Contesting shots - http://on.nba.com/1nvkePS

    Unlike these guys - http://on.nba.com/1nviEgL

Seems the secret is to not put your hand up or close out late enough that it doesn't matter, that's how you get Lillard to miss his 3's, why didn't we think of that. **** Beverley for trying to contest, **** Mcfail for asking the players to contest.
