This team is so poorly managed. I've seen high school coaches draw up better plays than mc fail. Terrible just terrible.
mchale press conference on cooper "he just wouldnt draw up any plays. our players kept standing around, no one was boxing out. we needed someone to step up to the plate but he couldnt get it done"
McHale thinks he is a good coach in his mind. He looks stubborn. He thinks he is a good coach so he sat on the bench and be like Phil Jackson or Rick Adelman. No way...He is never a good coach.
I'll be unorthodox and take this as a positive sign. If this is the last defense-focused assistant standing, I'm glad they let him go. At least shows (IMO) that the goal is to surround McHale with competent defensive-minded assistants, which is about the best we can hope for.
McHale is even more stupid, than I thought. Cooper may not have done anything, but it's obvious that McHale didn't know what do either.
Seems like a scapegoat, but whatever, I'm glad some changes are being made as well as the rumor of special assistants to help coach perimeter defense. If they can hire a top assistant from the Bulls, Spurs, Indiana or wherever, I'll look at that as (small) progress until we review our coaching options next year based on how the season plays out.
It will never be clear to us fans as long as we're not part of practices, meetings, and with the team on the sidelines. There's this backup PG who without doubt single-handedly lost two playoff games. In the Rockets' situation, "Schaub" was forced onto the coaching staff. Let's wait to see what happens when the Rockets have a good squad first, ie put out 5 starters and a decent bench.
