As a secondary Skins fan, I think it's a lot, but I understand. Y'all have to know that the Redskins are in desperation mode. They removed seats last year to keep sellouts going. They have Grossman, the worst turnover QB in the entire NFL, and Beck, a terrible terrible terrible QB who is a practice squad player at best. They could've had Blaine Gilbert, or that QB who went to Tennessee, or the Cincy rookie, but the Shanny's didn't believe in any of them. The confluence of Snyder worried about a shrinking fan base + years of suck + terrible QBs + Shanny wanting to succeed now, no later + RG3 is thought to be awesome = do anything to get him. It's a bad position to be in, but probably a necessary move.
It isn't necessary to have one but looking at the past Super Bowl champions it looks like it makes it a lot easier to get a title if you have one. In my eyes and probably many others, Roethlisberger is a franchise quarterback so I don't think that was a good comparison. I would have named Dilfer or Johnson.
wow on pft they are reporting that the skins are gonna be docked 36 mil in cap space because of their manueverings in the uncapped year. i think its safe to say that rg3 will most likely be starting all 16 games if the skins take the hit in one year
Supposedly skins are gonna try to get Vincent Jackson. They're still going to be bad, very bad. As a Rams fan I'm elated! Hopefully, we can take Blackmon this year, and pick up an offensive lineman in the 2nd round. Maybe we can even trade Stephen Jackson for more picks, and get his replacement and a tight end or another wide receiver. The Greatest show on turf once again!
Yikes - the cap penalty will be $18M for two years if they spread it evenly. Giving up the picks and operating with a stricter cap number is going to seriously affect their ability to retool. They may backload the penalty in the hopes of the 2013 balloon bailing them out.
the redskins need receivers, that has been as much of a problem as qb for at least 10 seasons it seems.
The Steelers are a pass first team with a really good quarterback, you picked the wrong team. You would have had a better argument to say the Niners but they will regress this year.
they were pass first in 08? they were 17th in passing in 08 last time the won the sb. pay attention please
To be fair, they were 23 in rushing that year. They were 3rd in both categories in the postseason in total yards, however they were near the bottom in yards per run attempt as well...while being among the best in yards per completion in the postseason.
Results are in: (2012)DT Michael Brockers, CB Janoris Jenkins, RB Isaiah Pead, G Rokevious Watson (2013)LB Alec Ogletree, WR Stedman Bailey, RB Zac Stacy (2014)OT Greg Robinson for QB Robert Griffin III
If RG3 takes a giant step (ala Cam Newton) it would have been well worth it. Those names listed aren't Pro-Bowlers or don't appear to have that "it" factor. Still too early on Greg Robinson, its crazy the Rams didn't pick Watkins. I'm very glad that Houston took Clowney. If he was there at #2 it would be hard to justify the RG3 trade.
Works out great for STL *if* and only if they can find a QB. If they can't, all these other players are going to be for naught. Redskins are still positioned better, IMO, if RG3 can stay healthy.
Insane haul for an eternally injured RG3. They better hope they can find a QB, but what a great trade for the Rams.
If RGIII can dial it back a bit and stay healthy, he's still an elite QB. That's the price for one of those and Washington would still pay that price.
