Unless of course they had no interest in either of those guys and they are going to take their guy with the 1st pick of the 2nd round.
alot of people are so down on Derek Carr because of his brother, but i do recall Jon Gruden stating he though Carr was the best QB in the draft...
O the irony of that statement seeing as the super bowl winning qb in seattle was not a first round qb and and most of that team was developed thru the draft.
I think we dodged a bullet then. Watching Bortles on TV (not an expert) made me think of a less accurate Matt Schaub. He could only complete bubble screens! When Jacksonville took him, I shouted a "YES!"
Wait, so our front office thought he would be the 3rd qb taken and slide far enough for us to trade up and draft him yet they don't trade up for JFF?
LOL yea they thought he was the 3rd QB, therefore they didnt want to trade for the 1st- Manziel or 2nd Bridgewater rated QB- because Well- I dont know
No one knows what the Texans draft board looks like. 1. Bortles 2. Bridgewater 3. Manziel 4. Carr 5. Garoppolo If it looked like this with little difference in QB grades, why give up draft picks to get any of those guys? And that's assuming that Maziel & Bridgewater were even on their board.
I think the comment is that the Texans thought that the Jags (and other teams) had Bortles rated 3. The Texans thought that Bortles would be 3rd off the board, not the 3rd best QB prospect.
Yes I know, but I'm one of the few Manziel fans that was still holding out hope we could trade up for him. I've felt for a while that BOB prefers a bigger guy and prefered Bortles and I'm supposed to trust him because he is a qb guru and all. (I feel like i've heard that one one before with Kubiak)
Wait, the Jags considered Bortles to be the once in a generation player in this draft?..... That's a head scratcher. At least we're not Jacksonville, I'd say that much.
Honestly, once both JFF and TB fell past 20, I was hoping the Texans would move up and take one. Most of these guys drafted -- despite claims about draft values, media hype, and fandom -- are gonna suck. Most late round picks won't even last in the league. I thought it would be a small price to package a mid-late round pick to go up and take a QB. But, if the team has strong opinions against these guys, then so be it. It's not my job that depends on the picks.
Well, consensus is that they, along with BB, are the best QB's in the draft. With BB out of the picture, assuming they weren't going to trade up, its safe to say that one of the QB's on our roster already will be the starter. Barring any amazing trade (and I don't see it happening because nobody on our team is desired but Watt and now Clowney), it seems the Texans FO has already cashed in on this season and is already maneuvering for next years draft. And by maneuvering, I mean throwing in the towel on this season.
