I'm glad we didn't reach for Johnny Football. It would have been nice to snag Bridgewater in the second but I'm not too disappointed. It will be interesting to see which way they go from here.
What? Where's the outrage? Where's calling this organization a joke? Where's the slamming of BoB as a rookie coach over his head? Where's the slurping of how great of an organization Cleveland is? You're doing it all wrong, people that are just taking it pick by pick and seeing what happens need to have our own draft thread and let these maniacs keep ranting and raving in this one.
There's way too many people overreacting in this thread. Lol y'all act like we passed up Andrew Luck.
It's hard to get angry about strategy when we don't have the resources/expertise to evaluate players that the Texans do. If they wanted Bridgewater/Manziel and Rick couldn't get it done, that's one thing. But if they didn't like those guys, it's hard for us to question their evaluation (other than going by how many good/bad picks they've had in the past).
Trade back and get both? May the best man win! Seattle had a bunch of young QB's and let them battlefight it out. If Thomas is there in late 4th I would probably take a flyer even if we draft a QB in the 2nd or 3rd. We still need a lot of depth but we can probably use one of our picks on a hail mary especially if we trade down at some point to get an extra pick. Not sure if Thomas is the guy but if there is a 2nd QB that O'Brien wants to compete someone might be worth a flyer. The problem is that specific QB might not even make the team unless Thomas can be converted to TE if he fails at QB.
We don't swing for the fences after we just drafted the top prospect because of his upside, despite his last season, work ethic concerns and the fact that he doesn't fit our scheme to a T? This is not the year to say this. Sorry we didn't take the QB you love. We obviously aren't the only team that doesn't think Johnny is all that.
To be fair, i believe rezdawg was a clowney guy and Clowney was known as the safe, sure fire first pick across the league. I think the whole playing it safe status quo hes referring to is not trading up for either of those QBs. I don't think we can deny, looking back at their history, that they tend to play it safe rather than swing for the fences.
Reading through this thread reminds me of the JJ Watt pick. I was absolutely livid. I went through all the typical motions, "Screw this franchise!" "I'll never watch the Texans again!" "I hate McNair and his good ol' boy network!" etc. Colossal, Texas sized egg on my face. You guys are overreacting. How many of you guys are scouts? How many of you even know what to look for when you're watching "tape" or "film"? This is Mario Williams over Young/Bush all over again, yet who turned out the best out of those 3? And Vince was a better college QB than Manziel. And for those people acting like the sky is falling because the Texans didn't trade up for Manziel or trade a 4th to move up 1 spot to get Teddy, get over it. It's only day 1. Who knows what might happen this weekend.
Guys, somebody repped me and called me a racist for calling Manziel a scrub... Am...am I just another Donald Sterling?...oh God...
The overreaction last night is akin to a 13-year old finding that scrambled p*rn channel, started feverishly whacking away, and right before he blew his load with anticipation the channel went dark and the kid got mad that his scrambled p*rn was taken away from him.
For the love of all things holy...ESPN, please do not play that annoying Aloe Blacc song anymore...EVAR!

Basically some of our members were anticipating for something great to happen (moving up in the draft) due to a coincidental event happening (QBs dropping) but were left flaccid because another event (NOT moving up) occurred and the only reaction they think that could even be considered rational is to get mad because said coincidental event appeared to be a sign from the heavens.
