Butthurt from what? I literally laughed out loud when I heard he was going Cleveland. I'm celebrating that the Houston media can shut up now.
Time to close this thread? And time for some users to find that Cleveland Browns fan forum site out there?
Wow: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Within 25 minutes of Johnny Manziel pick, <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Browns&src=hash">#Browns</a> had sold 200 new season ticket accounts and had 300 renewals.</p>— Tony Grossi (@TonyGrossi) <a href="https://twitter.com/TonyGrossi/statuses/464616482857820160">May 9, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
did we even try and trade up? 2 and 3 this year, maybe 3 or 4 next year. I think smith went home after drafting clients. Think we will regret not trying to trade up.
The texans don't need someone to fill seats. They could have forfeited this entire draft and still sold out every game next season. I don't get the idea of drafting someone for popularity from a GM standpoint and I'm glad they didn't either seeing as how they clearly didn't value him as that high of a priority to trade up. From a fan perspective, sure it would be exciting, but I trust their decision making, or at least I'm giving Obrien the benefit of the doubt with QB selection.
That's because most people sit out there tailgating and walk in late. I always walk in right before kickoff and the people in the blue and platinum lots are still drinking and eating without any worry about the time.
I would've liked to have seen Twitter when Brady Quinn kept falling in the draft... https://twitter.com/search?q=#BeforeManzielGetsDrafted&src=tren <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/JzQh9lK5Xuk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Hahaha. You think the Houston media, or any media anywhere is going to shut up about Manziel? I guess you don't get it, people are obsessed with Manziel in every city in the USA. It's not just in Houston or in Texas that people follow Manziel. The big story in the NFL next season will be Johnny Manziel. Manziel mania isn't going away anytime soon. If Manziel has any success at all in Cleveland, then Manziel mania only gets bigger. Get ready to see a lot of Browns games televised nationally. Manziel mania isn't ending, it's just getting started.
Manziel is a captivating/compelling figure. Even if he fails, the media will have a field day documenting the meltdown. Especially if it's a VH1 "Behind the Music" style implosion, and not just plain old sucking at football.
Do you deep down honestly believe he's going to have a ton of success in the NFL? Even if he was somewhat "likable" (which given his antics, there's a lot of hate for the guy out there)... its still a long-shot given his size, his style of play, and the team/organization he's going to. If he can make it work there, more power to him. If Vegas were taking odds, it would be close to 30-1 that he turns into a pro-bowl level QB on a playoff team.
Johnny Football is officially now the pick we missed. Make Rick Smith suit up as QB for his final year as GM.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if he has a Vince Young like career, with early success and an injury or off the field distractions derailing his career. We certainly have not seen the end of the Manzel media blitz though, expect it to be the same as the "we should have drafted Vince Young" from fans and Tim Tebow from the media.
