What is his track record? Coaching Tom Brady after he'd been in the league for 7 years and had won 3 Super Bowls? That's like giving Kubiak credit for Elway. Do you know how well his QB's did at Georgia Tech or Duke? I don't because I don't care about those teams and none of them ever made it to the NFL. So his QB "track record" boils down to Tom Brady and Matt McGloin, neither of whom he drafted/recruited. An all time great who was well established before O'Brien got there and an undrafted rookie who's going to ride the pine behind Matt Schaub next season.
Something to track for the future. If Manziel and Bridgewater succeed and Bortles flops, what can you do as a fan? It is kind of telling that the two guys Texans fans wanted (one or the other) are the guys the Texans had no interest in and the guy the Texans liked is the guy seemingly none of the fans did.
First, I don't need you to define what is or isn't my fandom. When you do, that's trolling. Second, what you think or feel about what's best for the Texans doesn't hold water with a lot of fans including me who wanted a QB for a team that desperately needs one. And fans...rabid or not...don't just shell out money and pat the coach, GM and owner on the back for 2-14 seasons like you seem to. That's partly why Houston has never won anything. The acceptance of mediocrity. I'm also sick of your trashing the best college QB to come out of Texas maybe ever. I've never understood that. I can't understand that unless of course its some unnatural hatred for Aggies. There are quite a few people who are irrational like that...and they sound EXACTLY like you. Thinking Clowney is the right pick is one thing. Actively BASHING Manziel like you've done for months is just hating. Period.
Heh, fair enough. Keep on running off at the mouth then champ, I'm sure someone will bump this thread in a few years and we'll get a good laugh.
They didn't pick Bortles though.... We just know that they weren't high on Manziel or Bridgewater and I can't knock them for that because there are lots of reasons why an NFL coach wouldn't be high on either of them. Sure if one of them turns into the next big thing we'll think about what could have been, but most likely no QB from this class will be anything special so it's just a lot of noise.
We are getting another qb that is average to below average while focusing on defense it's Houston's story that's who we are.
Whatever you say champ, but if you've been following along, you'd see that I've been right FAR more often than I've been wrong.
If it matters, fans can just root for a different team. Or eschew team loyalty altogether and just pull for their favorite players. Why let geography imprison one's fandom? No need to volunteer for years of disappointment because one's favorite team is run by idiots. If the leagues have no problem relocating teams, fans should have no problem relocating emotional investment.
 HAHAHAHA, You sound like a UT-Austin fan with McCoy or Vince Young...get outta here with this nonsense.
Unless you're just a hater, there is no question that Manziel ranks among the very best college QB's ever produced in Texas. And I'm not saying THE GREATEST since that is arguable, but certainly among the greatest rings true.
Feel free to go back and double check.....although I know you won't, you're just upset and venting about the team you used to root for not wanting the same prospect you wanted them to want and I accept that. I'm sure you'll feel better after getting some sleep.
Yup, he ranks right up there behind Vince Young when it comes to Texas college QB's, no one denies that. However, that's irrelevant to the NFL as Vince Young found out.
This is the same team that passed on PEYTON MANNING in favor of MATT SCHAUB. Yeah, I'm not ****ing surprised.
For a second we'll play along and pretend as if the Texans actually had ANY chance of getting Peyton Manning and just chose to pass on him. Assuming he had chosen the Texans instead of the Broncos, you would have had them gut their team to bring in Peyton? Even with a much better roster the Broncos couldn't win with him. How well do you think he'd have done on a gutted Texans roster?
