Stat geeks can be bad, I agree. Being an amateur statistician can be dangerous notion because it can cloud your judgement if you don't have the proper know-how and/or training. You can paint almost any picture you want by arranging numbers. The ones that do that mostly are the amateurs though. It's no different from completely biased research that you aren't gonna let any of your notions fail. In any case, you shouldn't let those people on here/elsewhere cloud all the work he's done and how well he knows his basketball.
I went through all Morey's twits for the last couple hours and he talked everything about the Rockets and even the Texans, but NONE, not a single word mentioned about McHale. Hope is still alive!
You can avoid that as an amateur statistician by always thinking "could there be other reasons for this?" Or coming up with a bunch of explanations as to why a number is what it is. You can't take any number at face value. You have to always try to poke holes in the stats to see if there are other explanations.
Keeping Parsons, having cap flexibility, can creating space for a max player. Morey making it pretty clear for what he wants to try to do. Get rid of Asik and Lin, keep Parsons and try to go for a big name free agent like Melo, Lowry, Dirk etc. After that looking to use his MLE to pick up a defensive wing possibly.
Who cares?? DM should be near the bottom of the league until he realizes how idiotic his comments wrt coaching are. Anyone who doesn't think coaching matters... A fair amount... Hasn't Watched the nba the last few decades.
umm.. the writing has been on the wall since last summer. lin prob doesn't care either way but asik will be pissed if he's not traded this summer.
