Because he wants them to take a long snapper or some other ridiculous take that no one would support.
I think the fact that McNair brought the Texans back to Houston trumps all of his decisions. He has done some good things, and assuming you aren't a fly on the wall, how do you know that Ed Reed wasn't Rick Smith/Kubiak/Andre decision? The only problem with this team, is that fans like yourself come with it. I have never seen someone so quick to choose the devil advocate position. You make Skip Bayless seem logical. Are you done? Can you go away after the draft?
He really is the Skip Bayless of these threads....in fact, I'm going to unblock him for a while just to see his crazy reactions.
That doesn't make McNair a football expert.... And anyone who would like for the Texans to take a QB, Watkins, Robinson, or trade the pick is the devil's advocate in your opinion... Lol... Ok

Well considering that he is retrieving what is already posted on Twitter. You should probably consider getting one.
Bills still angling to make a move up, but it figures to be very costly Rick Smith: Texans could 'legitimately move' down in draft
Well, that's the luxury of being number one. You get one or the other. And the other being JD Clowney. Not such a bad thing to be in the Texans position.

The press release by Rick Smith saying they could absolutely move down reeks of trying to scare a team into giving up a ransom toove up, which makes me think he hasn't gotten any great offers.
That and leaks that the Texans won't take Manziel or Mack with the number one also suggest that he also is hoping someone will leap frog the Rams for either or. They are trying everything.
Why don't YOU go be a fan somewhere else, since being a fan of the Texans seems to make you so miserable...
If Rick ####s this up, he should be fired, so I guess it won't be all bad. Manziel or Clowney, decide, draft, develop, do it. Trading down is gutless.
