Holy ****. You're a genius! Bring in Battier as an assistant coach! He'd be perfect as a defensive specialist! On another note: If Lin really does continue to improve, and does actually become a very good sixth-man caliber player ala Ginobili or Jamal Crawford, would you be open to keeping him?
Shane Battier? We traded him when he said he didn't want to leave HOU! (Same with Luis "the Rockets are my first choice, my only choice" Scola) We traded him so we could start Chase Budinger. He said before that he wouldn't want to coach in the NBA. He would like to coach a high school basketball team though. Wonder if he has since change his mind.
yeah. if you get rondo, gotta go after millsap. rondo may not be able to shoot 3s well, but he knows how to move the ball and find open shooters.
If we want to improve both the PG and PF position our best bet is to figure out how to trade for a superstar PF and then let Canaan be our upgrade at the 1 or else make an all-out blitz to get Llull over here with the MLE to play the 1 for us alongside Harden and the rest.
I'm a Lin fan and I think that is a great article, especially the part about trading Lin because he definitely isn't utilized on this team. For someone making 15 million next year, even if it's 8 million on the salary cap, I think another team could use him as a starter. I think maybe if the Rockets trade, Parsons, Lin, Asik, Jones for Carmelo and friends then that would work. The Knicks would get Linsanity back, Phil Jackson could start rebuilding a team, and the Rockets could get their 3rd all star. Anyone with me on this?
Good wrap up... I hadn't really considered McHale as a drawing chip for Love or another free agent... but I still think he needs to go.... I think it may workout in more of a figurehead coach role with somebody else doin the x's and o's, but I just don't see that being very common in the NBA - more of an NFL thing... I am becoming increasingly disenchanted with Harden. The blatant disregard for defense at various intervals is just infuriating.... if this is the guy it all hinges on.... personally, I think DH12 is a guy you can build a contender around (and I was one of his biggest detractors after the SVG press conference thing....)
The Rockets will have a HARD time trading Asik & Lin. Bringing back Mchale for his connections is worse than signing Lin for his marketability. How about you hire a coach that can actually coach. Morey doesn't learn
So for the whole summer, these might/most likely happen: Keep Mchale until players like Love is acquired then dismiss him Hustle for a possible Melo trade - this really hinges a lot on Melo's intent. Was he really being honest when he said he's okay for a cut pay? Because if he wants championship, then he better come to Houston. Known as a guy who gets what he wants, Melo style, if he gets pissed with Mchale's lack of court tactics, then this guy might be our only chance in this lifetime to get Mchale to resign Might acquire Rondo Lowly might be lured here with proper incentive Trade Asik, which is easiest of the two as what I've often read Trade Lin- Would Rockets be cruel enough to dump him in a loser team like 76'ers /Bucks/ Orlando Magic? If they have even a semblance of affection for this guy who went through being yo-yoed back and forth and didn't complained at all, maybe they can trade him to average rank teams, or Knicks might be okay, instead of some cringe worthy teams who's incapable of rebuilding. With Phil, I can still see a bit of hope in there. Parsons team option that Rockets might pick up, or risk him to be unrestricted agent next year etc etc. Rockets might signed him for another 3 years or so, or he might be used to become the ultimate bait to encourage teams to take Lin/Asik. Hire Shane Battier Get/loot assistant coaches specializing on D/ cant we get one from Spurs? Start making a list for a possible head coach Dwight and Hakeem training- can we please include Harden into this agenda? I love the guy when he scores, but he just frustrates me to no end when he's not dribbling the ball and looks so uninterested in defending his opponents Ah~ the possibilities are endless! Hopefully Morey delivers again. Aside from the Mchale debacle, I don't think I have much to complain about his work. I don't think Harden was a mistake, they just need to get a coach who has the makings of Pop ( HOW I wish) that would earn his respect and make him do D. And Dwight, I can't even thank Morey enough for getting this guy. Hopefully, this 3rd player that they're trying to bait would come through and help this team gel more on court. Because they might be the best of friends off court, but their chemistry on court is not.
So basically you're shoving a bunch of garbage into the Knicks' yard and say here your poops...now give us Carmelo.
The T'Wolves ain't taking Lin and Asik. But a 3-team deal might be a possibility if we include either Parsons or T'Jones along with a few picks. Either way, I wish we'd stop with the Kevin Love fantasy. The earliest we could possibly get him is early 2015 if Minnesota is heading for the lottery again and decides they'd rather get something rather than lose him for nothing. In other words, it's a longshot.
Why do people around here keep bringing up Lull. If this cat was all that we would have brought him over by now don't you think. We also don't need 5 Superstars on this team, continue to build around Harden and Howard or let players like Jones and Beverely grow into their roles.
I'd love to do a thread and a poll but this question is on the cusp of that kind of importance. Is Troy Daniels now an untouchable? 3pt specialist Young Great contract
No one not named Howard or Harden is untouchable. But I don't see Daniels going anywhere. He's got a cheap contract, he's young, he's clutch, and he's a great outside shooter on a team that relies heavily on 3-pointers. Why would Morey move him?
