For our sake, I'm hoping he means Posey.

Yeah but have you ever considered that "noise" could be the smoke-screen?

As to "why you'd put that information out there if Clowney is truly your far-and-away BPA and the clear-cut choice for your pick", even if you really want Clowney, if some team wants to roll in and give up 3 first rounders and a hand full of other picks for him you do it in a heartbeat. Even if you know who you want, you let people know that they can still get the pick from you at a ridiculous rate.

Think of it this way, if I go to a dealership and am signing papers on the last car they have....even if I really want the car I'd be willing to let someone walk in and give me 10 mil to let them have it. I think it's the same with the draft.

3 guys I DO NOT want at all. Garoppolo, Savage, Thomas.

I'm really fine with anything else they do in the draft. Clowney, Mack, Robinson, Manziel, Bortles. I'll roll with it. But if we're taking a QB later, I just really don't want any of those 3 guys, especially at #33.

Dix is very risky, there's nothing worse than a fat man with a degenerative knee condition. I wanted him too before the medical tests at the combine showed that he was a ticking time bomb.

I think perhaps that's because you think they'd start immediately, any of them (really any QB in this class) would be a project. No matter what the Texans do in this draft Fitz or, by some miracle, Keenum will be the starter next season. All 3 of those guys have decent potential and certainly as much as Bridgewater, Bortles, or Manziel IMO.

I didn't say that. I just stated I'm cool with whoever they pick in the first (and listed the commonly mentioned possibilities) and then mentioned the 3 QBs that I would not want to take at all in any round.

I'd love it if they were able to get Bridgewater at #33. I like Teddy more than I do Manziel or Bortles though I'm not going to freak out if the they trade down and take one of them in the 1st.

But why would you even need a smokescreen, in that scenario? Is someone really going to give 3 first rounders because they're scared you might take Khalil Mack? That seems rather silly.

That's true but coming in as the #1 pick he needs to contribute. If not directly with sacks then the other guys on the line need to have their totals increase. Aldon Smith, Von Miller stepped in right away and did fine (although they were on better teams than the Texans should expect to be).

You do so to gague interest in a wide variety of picks and to keep your thoughts unknown. Why give the rest of the teams out there the advantage of knowing early who you are going to pick?

How funny would it be if the Browns took Manziel and had VY and JFF fighting it out in camp for the starting gig?

They've been at this for over 4 months... I don't think they needed to float the names Khalil Mack or Greg Robinson in the final week in order to gauge interest from other teams. Seems a lot more likely that they're just genuinely interested.

Anyway, we'll see tomorrow, but the more information that comes out, the more I tend to believe Hey Now! that the Texans have very little interest in keeping this pick. And the logical extension of that position is that there isn't one guy that they value far-and-away above everyone else.

Nope. Not the case. I just don't think they're going to develop in to what you'd hope to get out of them.

Garoppolo has a bad case of Schaub-itis. Bad pocket presence, anticipated pressure even when it's not there and lets it affect his throws, will curl up into a ball and wait for the sack. I've seen nothing out of Savage that suggests he's a future starter. Big arm but that's about it. And his 40 time rivals Matt Schaub. What I think about their overall game aside, I can't understand why any Texans fan who has criticized Schaub for being slow and immobile and going into the standing fetal position so quickly would want either of those 2 QBs because they do the exact same thing.

Thomas I think is just too raw. Great physical tools but you need more than that to be an NFL QB. He hasn't even demonstrated he could be a good college QB. Never completed 60% of his passes. QBR under 50% (meaning below average). IN COLLEGE! And all of a sudden he's supposed to be an NFL QB? Pfft! He's only being mentioned because he looks the part. He's big, he's fast, he's got a strong arm. But none of that means jack if he can't actually play the position well and thus far he hasn't shown that.

I know the coaches ego makes them think that they can coach a player up, but that rarely, if ever, happens. A lot of the stuff coaches think they can fix doesn't end up getting fixed and players flop because of the flaws everybody saw before the draft.

Don't take it personal Cat. Any time someone suggests that their could be a possibility of a player or players being near the same level of value in this draft class bobby has to take out his claws and bat it down. In his mind Clowney is head and shoulders above the rest and there can be no other(s).

I agree with you. I believe there is more than one draft target even if we do move down to the mid top 10.

What do you mean Flash...? All he said was we don't have a slot receiver on the roster. What does that have to do with Posey or Hopkins...?
