    And now this

@awexler: Spurs RC Buford wins Exec of Year. Rockets Morey tied for 9th in voting. Morey not among 11 execs to get 1st place vote (got 3 2nds, 1 3rd)

    Bellineni > dwight I guess

i like it, bill! i hate it, bill!

keeping a roster that can contend for a title year in, year out, should be recognized but so should Morey who pulled out dwight out of foggy thick air.

Honestly, Spurs should win it nearly every year.

But Morey not receiving 1st place votes is a joke, what did Riley and Presti do this year? Morey added the biggest FA/top 5 NBA player for peanuts and gets no respect?

Shocking. I didn't think they'd give Buford a EoY given how many years he got passed on.

    Good for him. About time.

I'm not even sure what Buford has done this year? What are the criteria? Portland signed Lopez, drafted a rookie that doesn't play and has 2 SF/PF's that don't play much. Houston signed Howard. How is that worse? Would Portland not trade that group for Howard? They would... so?

Who votes on this? They just must not like Morey very much. Or maybe they think keeping McHale around is just that stupid. I could see that... Portland's coach was a find.

Morey isn't well liked by other front office executives. He does not play by the good ole boy rules that others do.

There are also a lot of front offices that do not like the poison pills, the handling of the Parsons contract, the "options" used by the Rockets and the way they went after Howard....

    For:

1). Not firing a legendary HOF coach after the Finals meltdown last year
2). Not getting rid of local hero and soon to be Spurs legend for causing the Finals meltdown last year
3). Drafting/trading for good role players that compliment the Spurs core and buying into the system
4). Getting that #1 seed in the ultra-competitive West

Executives are not just responsible for trades and drafts, they also manage the day-to-day operations of the team. Getting along with your personnel, coaches, players, etc.

Morey is a smart and savvy executive but the fact that our team has been under-performing every season given the talent we have will not win him any votes for executive of the year.

Losing to the Portland Trailblazers in six games after gaining homecourt advantage with stars like Dwight and Harden will not get you many votes either.

I'd vote for Irina every year, myself.

if it's gonna be a cumulative award, why not give it to Riley every year until LeBron retires?

Getting self-poisoned by two poison contracts does not look good on Morey's resume.

Compounded by the pseudo-deadline drama and him trying to trade those two contracts all season long without any success.

And in the ends its the.....results.

To be honest, this season was the hardest pill to swallow. We had a great team, tons of talent, home court advantage, and the team that everybody wanted in the playoffs.

Then we kinda just fizzled away....in 6 games. Regardless of the refs, we underachieved BIG TIME. This was supposed to be our year!
