I like it- even if he doesnt get it (atleast he tried) Damn 3 first rounders..
That would be insane.. If Falcons want Clowney they will have to pay a steep price..
    No bargains here

He also just said that, in his final mock today, he will put Greg Robinson as the Texans' pick at #1. Take it with some grain of salt since he is an o-line guy, but he said Robinson grades out to him as the best player in the draft, a perennial all-pro player and a mean SOB. He said that he thinks the Texans and O'Brien will not want any of the motivation, etc issues with Clowney.

Come on- Really Greg Robinson NO # 1 (when you have players like
Clowney, Mack, Manziel, Watkins ) theres no way in hell they pick Robinson at NO # 1

Watt is our competitive advantage, and Clowney seems like the best choice to exploit that competitive advantage.

I still think Mack is their guy, but I could see Robinson at #2 on their board.

The guy behind me in the elevator this morning put out his 17th mock draft last night and he has the Texans taking Clowney at #1.

If the texans stay at NO 1 they are taking Clowney... They will not be picking Greg Robinson or Khalil Mack at NO # 1- I just dont see that

This. Imagine if Watt sees less double teams. Or if Clowney is not doubled.

If Atlanta balks, would you take the same offer from Buffalo? I know people wouldn't want to trade down that far, but 3 first rounders are 3 first rounders.

If the Texans are asking for that. They will never trade the pick. No team will give up that much for a defensive player when the NFL has changed the rules year after year for the offense to succeed.

Robinson is a freak. And some experts will argue that the left tackle position is the most important on the team. Mostly all believe that games are won and lost in the trenches and our offensive line is trash.

Hell yes you take them, i actually rather take the Bills picks (cause they usually suck) which means better positioning in future picks.

It's the most likely thing to happen, I just don't think it's a guaranteed lock. I'd expect them to take Clowney but I won't be shocked if they don't. And I'm patient. I'm willing to wait to see how things play out on the field. I won't be upset and throwing chairs across the room no matter what they do.

Yea but Mack and Clowney are "risk" picks. Even if they do turn out to be great _ they may not necessarily affect the bottom line which is wins. That's why you always see great defensive players on the free agent market. But you hardly ever see elite QB's, WR's, or OT's on the free agent market. Touchdowns will always be more important than sacks. And that's why we here the rumors that there are more teams that want to trade up for Sammy than for Clowney.

As a season ticket holder I really hope we trade the 1st pick if not you take Clowney with out hesitating. JJ will mentor this kid to live up to the hype.

Who mentored JJ? As a number 1 pick a player shouldn't have to be mentored to the level you are indicating. Texans shouldn't draft anyone who doesn't have a high motor or concerns over work ethic/motivation. That in my opinion is number one on the checklist. I understand that Clowney has all world talent with that doesn't get you anywhere without motivation and I don't think motivation can be taught. You can make a point that it can be contagious though but that only works when things are going good. JJ coming out didnt have all world talent but his motivation to succeed made him the best. Same with Cushing. Those are the type of players the Texans need.

I remember when Tmac was supposed to mentor Stromile Swift. That didn't pan out. I may be wrong but show me an example where mentoring someone helped them become more motivated or resulted in a higher motor.

I'd take Manziel and his desire to be the best than Clowney.

Hell I could be wrong on his Motivational issues. I'm just going off what analysts are saying there but to be that's a huge red flag. If that's overblown by analysts then yea take him 1.1
