I'm not a big fan of Jackson, but it's ridiculous he got fired. Improved the team's wins every year, won a playoff series his second year, and took a contending Clippers team to 7 games.
taking the clippers to 7 games without bogut >>>>>>> losing to the blazers with HCA and the best shooting guard/center in the league
He took the Clippers to game 7 without Bogut. and a broken down Jermaine. DO NOT compare McHale to Jackson. McHale didn't get the most out of the talent, Jackson did in the playoffs. His players LOVE him. The difference is that McHale is buddies with people in management, Jackson was not.
Golden St. is a very good team. Had they beaten the Clippers, I think they would've made a run at the NBA finals. Jackson will get another job.
They went from four years of averaging about 36% wins to the last two years of averaging about 60% wins. Check it: http://www.landofbasketball.com/teams/records_golden_state_warriors.htm edit: drowsy12^^, exactly right. Part of being a successful coach is making your boss happy, and Jackson failed that part. McHale is just a nice company fella, from what we can tella.
Jackson might not be well liked. Jackson might not be the best coach in the NBA. But if you don't think the Warriors would be in the WCF with Dwight Howard instead of AI, you're crazy. They made it to the second round. They increased their win totals every year. They played the Spurs tight in the second round. They took the Clippers to 7 games, and it was a tight game that as Morey likes to say comes down to a coin-flip. That team, with Dwight, would be giving the Thunder fits, as well. Why the comparison? Duh. McHale was handed a VERY similar situation, actually was handed Dwight, and he freaking sucks nuts. Maybe Jackson deserves to be fired. But it is an injustice of the utmost level to the Rockets players and fans that Kevin McHale continues to be the Rockets head coach. God I hope DM knows there's a player acquisition strategy tied to McHale... and he better be right about it.
Isn't it funny that none of the teams that were involved in the race for Dwight Howard are left in the playoffs? Odd...
I hate to say it, but Dwight would have actually been better off picking the Warriors. at least for this season.
From the SF Chronicle just now: “It’s never easy to make a decision of this nature,” said General Manager Bob Myers. “Mark has accomplished many good things during his three years with the organization, including his role in helping elevate this team into a better position than it was when he arrived nearly 36 months ago. We’re appreciative of his dedication and commitment since his arrival and are extremely grateful for his contributions. However, as an organization, we simply feel it’s best to move in a different direction at this time.” “Mark Jackson has had a big impact on the improvement of our team and the success that we’ve had over the last couple of years,” said Owner & CEO Joe Lacob. “Nonetheless, we must make some difficult decisions in our day-to-day operations of the club and this would certainly qualify as one of those examples. We wish Mark the best of luck in his future endeavors and thank him for his contributions over the last three years.” Jackson, 49, became just the third head coach in franchise history to lead a team to at least 50 wins in a season, joining Don Nelson and Alvin Attles, who both posted 50-win seasons twice with the Warriors. With 121 regular-season victories overall, Jackson ranks fourth on the franchise’s all-time wins list, trailing Attles (557), Nelson (422) and Eddie Gottlieb (263). Additionally, the 98 regular-season wins posted over the last two seasons (51 in 2013-14 & 47 in 2012-13) represent the Warriors best two-year stretch since the team posted 99 victories combined in the 1990-91 (44) and 1991-92 (55) seasons, which was also the last time Golden State made consecutive postseason appearances.
Actually better than his first three years with the Warriors. They had steph and they sucked donkey balls.
Man, how much of an a-hole must he be to the folks in the front office for him to get fired after 3 years, a 50 win season, and taking the potential champs to a late game 7 loss on the road? TBH, I always thought MJ was a bit abrasive. This pretty much confirms it for me.
