Just an idea. He already stated that he wouldn't be looking for a Kobe like deal. Plus he would provide some much needed consistent mid range and 3 point shooting. Morey should offer 11 million for 2 years.
If he accepts 10 mill a year and re-signs Marion and Carter at $5 mill each, they still have enough money to throw at Luol Deng a respectable offer Calderon Ellis Deng/Carter Dirk/Marion Wright Pretty deep veteran team.
I'm not sure Cuban is going to let him walk. but he'd be a great PF. Howard Dirk Parsons Harden Beverly No one's gonna double Howard anymore.
I think they're trying to catch lightning in the bottle like the year they won the championship and had nothing but veterans on that team. Not the best move for long term but with Dirk on the roster every year is a win-now year.
Except The Spurs try to win championships every year. Not sit on dry powder hoping to sign superstar free agents after winning a title.
Dirk has sold his soul to the Mavs...like Kobe to the Lakers, like Duncan to the Spurs...He wont go anywhere...
I hope that's the case because if they don't bring Carter back, depending on how much Dirk gets compensated, they can conceivably go after both Deng and Bledsoe with their cap room. Bledsoe, Ellis, Deng and Dirk would be a tough team.
At this point in Dirk's career, im sure all he just wants his team to be respectable until he retires, theres nothing left to really do for him but to enjoy the rest of his career. He already won the championship, he's gotten the mvp award, he's made multiple allstar games, he's broken the scoring records.
I think this is actually something to pay attention to, as far as what moves Dallas makes. Dirk says he wants to come back, but he also says he doesn't want to experience what he has for the past two seasons. He wants to compete for a title. If Dallas strikes out in brining in a major piece then I can see him leaving.
