I think it's a good thing. As one of the all time great PG's, MJ might actually help us to create a REAL point guard for the team, not some "defensive stoppers" or 'whatever'sanity you call it
i can't believe rockets are keeping mchale and i can't believe warriors are letting jackson go. both stupid decisions in my opinion.
Look into the reason he got fired. Why would you want someone like that on your team? Chemistry issue.
Did someone just mentioned Mark Jackson is an X & O guy? So no one ever saw this clip in game 7 when he called a TO to discuss with his team? He was yelling in the middle of the circle to his players one by one : "You deserve it (to win), you deserve it, you deserve it, you deserve it...." Seriously McHale can do better than that.
When have you ever seen coaches really calling tactical plays in those Wired sound bytes? All you're ever going to get are inspirational speeches. From everybody. Mark Jackson: I WOULDN'T WANT TO DO THIS WITH ANY OTHER SQUAD! YOU DESERVE THIS! YOU DESERVE THIS! McHale: Play harder! The first team to play defense will win this game! Doc Rivers: Don't let up! Don't let them gain any confidence! We will win this game! Not saying MJ is some coaching guru, but I don't think you can use those sound bytes as a gauge of ability.
Your reading comprehension needs work. I was agreeing with a sarcastic post by REEKO_HTOWN that a motivational coach is the last thing we need. What we DO need is more X's and O's guys. Also, they NEVER show any NBA coach in the huddle giving a play. That's part of an agreement the TV networks have with the NBA. They aren't allowed to show X's and O's in the huddle for anyone.
Obviously it's not about just a sound byte or two to see how good the coach will be. Its about the small details you can tell at least what kind of coach that a team will have. As I pointed out before, when McHale is on the floor coaching his team, he was like a fan having a front row seat most of the time. More than often, when his players were getting a bad call, he never standup for them immediately and at least have some kind of protest with the refs, like all other fans, he likes to look up at the replay and then make his stupid case, NO REFS will like this kind of dumb move. Check Doc Rivers, he will act totally differently. In G6, there is a play before the end of the Q, and with 0.3 second left and Rocket somehow get the ball back with one last chance, while the refs were still discussing the details, McHale chose this as the time that he must make a stand and keep mumbling to the refs and you can clearly see the refs were upset about it and waiving him away. You know what, for 0.3 second left, he eventually drew up a play to just let Parsons pass to Lin (which the shot will not count anyway). For some small details like this, you can see how dumb a coach can really be. Mark Jackson is not better either, if you will follow GS, you should notice that there is a case when GS called a TO, and Jackson was assigning the details for the last play and mentioned one of his players need to do so and so and then eventually Clay Thomson told him this : Coach, he fouled out already.
You are over-reacting, I was referring to the OP : "His X's & O's out of timeouts are praised by Doc Rivers right after the recent series(in his post game conference video)."
