People get mad with things they dont wanna hear/read. Furthermore, I have never claimed to ever be an insider, but state my observations based on being a fan. And every fan has the right to voice an opinion that may differ.

To overhype him for the #1 pick and then claiming to be a steal if he is picked in subsequent picks is just idiotic to me. And if they drafted someone else, good for them. But nothing matters if they dont win. This franchise needs to hit on this pick...I just think Clowney is the best option. We shall see this week...

Exactly. Also, don't most Longhorns fans follow the Cowboys rather than the Texans anyway? If they do then I'd imagine they'd WANT the Texans to draft Manziel.

Yep, my brother just texted me that about Mettenberger. Pretty big for him. His stock should drop like crazy with his other character issues.

I'll just say this....not to throw race out there, but I feel like his stock won't take as big of a hit because he's a white quarterback.

We can now debate that till Thursday.

Disclaimer: I'm white and think this is unfair.

He already had a hit on his character with the Sexual Battery charges and the alcohol related BS, now with a failed drug test......I just can't see him being picked by any respectable franchise.

Mettenberger was already on the fence as a draftable option...teams will pass most likely and he can just try his luck as a UDFA...

Jernigan was a much more surprising find...he had 1st round potential...

Assuming that most of the transgression was a weed...some folks are just plain dumb...

I feel like the attempted cover up is worse than if they just popped for weed or whatever.

Mettenberger would be an absolute steal after the fourth round. I could see us taking a flyer on him in the fifth, without a doubt.

Remember, the Patriots took a flyer on Ryan Mallett, who had similar character issues.

There is a reason why Casserly isn't the GM of a team anymore, and his draft record is a big part of why.

Your statement seems to imply that they somehow reaped a gigantic reward from taking a chance on him.

In the sum of his career he is 1-4 with an interception and a QB rating of 5.2. They would have received about the same benefit if they had drafted someone who was recently deceased. Actually a fresh corpse would have been addition by subtraction.

Wasn't trying to imply any success from Mallett. Was going more for a correlation with Bill Obrien.

Although the patriots possibly could have flipped Mallett for a mid round pick.

I disagree. He failed because of a diluted urine sample. That doesn't necessarily mean he was partaking in any drugs. And if he doesn't have a history of failing drug test he might can get around that. Winston will more than likely get around stealing things (crab legs/sex) and will probably still be a high draft pick so color probably isn't an issue in this case.

Color could arguably be an issue in Logan Thomas's case. This kid has all the tools but yet people want to make him a tight end but draft Tom Savage (Who..???) in the 2nd round.

Apparently, Mettenberger's "diluted sample" is being attributed by his physical therapist to him being instructed to drink up to 1-1.5 gallons of water per day to combat dehydration.

To be fair, Casserly just doesn't see the QB needy teams at the top of the draft taking a QB that high. As a result, all the QBs drop. He does think Bortles will be the first QB to go. And he thinks that a team will trade into the first to take Manziel, but since his mock didn't project trades, it didn't have him going in the first.

Posted this in the draft intel thread, again if its repeated information disregard. I thought it was interesting based on the source.

"Not sure if it's been metioned or posted but Gil Brandt states Mack will go before Clowney, Teddy will go in the 1st round, and Manziel will go top 5 but probably not #1.

If J.R. already posted it, disregard"

Lance currently on 790 reviewing what experts were saying about Johnny when watching All 22 film earlier this week. Not very glowing.

Also says that someone on the staff at USC is killing Clowney to NFL teams.

    1. Lance would not make that up.

    2. If indeed true, this feels like a conspiracy to push him down to Atlanta.
