I never put much thought into it, BUT a lot of the moves following Arryn's death could have been predicted and Littlefinger could be a lot more dangerous if he planned every step (was the letter sparking investigation about Robert's bastards accredited to Littlefinger's plot also?)

It's just annoying that the reveal is through some cartoony confession from Lysa, who was a poorly written character even in the book. I've never been a fan of Littlefinger's over the top evil accent too. Really holds me back from enjoying the character.

She still wants to come back and take Westeros, but she realizes that while she's learned how to conquer, she hasn't learned how to rule. The two cities she's freed have not been doing well since she left, and she knows the same will happen if she abandons Mereen. She also knows that the people of Westeros will have no reason to trust her as Queen if she leaves behind a trail of failure behind her across the narrow sea.

What good is conquering if the old rulers step back in as soon as she leaves?

I don't think it's intentional. To me it sounds like a weird RADA accent with his Irish accent coming through strong.

Still not as bad as Dinklage's accent though.

Littlefinger didn't have that over the top voice earlier. He has always had a large air of smarminess, but he has gone to creepy phone stalker levels this season.

I also see a lot of you don't seem to like Dany, or I should say Emilia Clarke's portrayal of her. I personally think she has been pretty good, especially when delivering her speeches. She's no Charles Dance, but she certainly hasn't been a liability IMO.

I agree on both points. The show is a lot better when it hints at things and lets you figure it out before coming out and revealing what's going on.

I was also a little surprised that the guy Locke was so quickly and easily dispatched. He had been built up as potentially a pretty formidable villain, only to basically just go *snap* and .. oh well, dead.

GRRM doesn't do the super villain thing. Four seasons in, you should realize that anyone can be killed for anything. Even with two books remaining, we still do not know the end game; Will there be a grand finale with the white walkers? Will Danearys come rule westerous? Will the Starks make a come back?

That is what I like about A Song of Fire and Ice; Its not a cookie cutter 'the good guy' ends up winning.

Even though there aren't any specific spoilers in your post you are giving away that some things haven't happened up to the fifth book, which could be a minor spoiler.

I think people looking or hearing for a GOOD ENGLISH ACCENT
when the reality THIS IS NOT ENGLAND
It's Westeros. . . .. some fictional land that we could not possibly know the accent

which is why the accent doesn't both me

Lysa Arryn says Littlefinger's "little finger" isn't so little.

    I concur.

Also, it doesn't seem like the biggest surprise/reveal of the series in any way.

It basically just confirms that Littlefinger is out for his own? No ****. Maybe that wasn't obvious from the books, but in the series, it's been pretty clear from the get-go. This is a power hungry dude, who accumulates power in "sly" ways.

I thought the more interesting reveal was that the Lannister's are broke.. or in a similar type state. May not have a big impact in the books (I'm not a book reader), but it seems like it could have a huge impact... if others knew about this Lannister weakness it really really would change the dynamics.

What exactly is wrong with Dinklage's accent?

The books do not blatantly reveal information. Much of it is suggested (Renly being gay) while others are revealed throughout the books in context clues and then completely reveal in a last paragraph of a seemingly random chapter. It is then reiterated through other characters points of views as the information spreads throughout the kingdom.

I also noticed Littlefinger was talking with much more deeper inflections and his accent seemed a lot thicker than it was earlier on.

    Exactly.

    And I thought I was a nerd.

As far as the "we killed Jon Arryn" reveal, I do think it was a bit ham-handed, like the criminals who confess how and why and who and when at the end of "Law and Order: SVU".

The dialogue could have been handled deftly. They went for obvious, for mallet-over-the-head: "Wow! Everything has been Littlefinger's doing!" Which is interesting, but less so when handled this way.

I also agree on Littlefinger's accent. Same thing with the now-defunct Karl. How many cigarettes and shots of whiskey do these actors go through to get that gravelly "I'm-evil" voice? Not necessary.

All that aside, love the books, love the show, just some small quibbles.

Yes, exactly. The books don't slap us with the information. The TV show plays things broader than the Autobahn so the dimmest among us don't miss it. Like in movies that assume (mostly correctly, unfortunately) that Americans suck at geography:

    "Where is the lab?"

    "It's not in this country."

    "Where is it?"

    "Manila." Pause. "The Phillipines."

I know where Manila is, people. But some people don't. SLAP!'em with the info so they don't miss it.

Are you kidding me? It's by far the worst British accent I've heard a professional actor imitate. Littlefinger's accent is much better, and even though his Irishness slips out at times. To be honest, I was ok with Dinklage's voice for a bit, until somebody pointed out he was doing the English accent completely wrong, and from then on it was a major pet peeve.

Since they aren't supposed to be British, how much does it really matter?
