Hindsight: Did Morey make the right choice in choosing Dwight Howard over all other issues with the

What would you have done last offseason?

  1. Still have signed Dwight, knowing the cost at other areas

  2. Kept Asik as starting center. Upgrade elsewhere

  3. If Morey truly is a genius, could've done both. Perhaps not asked for so much for Asik in trades

Sign a star player, or sign marginal role players...

    I'll take the star player.

You can always get the key role players in subsequent years. We would have went nowhere with just Harden as our only star player.

Horrible question to ask. It's like passing on the worlds best fries, that are limited, to focus on getting more kinds of ketchup.

Dwight is the real based god.

A consummate professional, I hope he retires a Rocket at 50 years old.

How so? Reading through this board the past few months, many times people brought up our crappy depth. And for the most part the postseason has been a failure.

So if fans hate the fact that we have crappy depth, I figured they'd have wanted that depth last season. Because we could've obtained that instead of Howard.

You only start building true depth with true superstars. Dwight is the best center in the league. You bring the best players in and THEN fill out the roster.

You know what happens when you try the other way? Cleveland with LeBron James. They tried to surround that man with role players and it didn't work. Then at the end they tried putting a band-aid on a gunshot wound when they brought in Shaq.

Well, for this season the Rockets couldn't do both. So I figured the complaints has to be due to fans feeling the Rockets made a mistake.

What if we had signed Milsap and Korver instead

You know the only reason why Rockets have crappy depth now is because Morey was trying to salvage what he thought was going to be a down year by bringing Lin and Asik to the team. If Les let Morey tank he probably would have went about the Lin/Asik signings differently or maybe he wouldn't have signed them at all.. If Morey knew that Harden was going to drop into his lap right before the season started he definitely would have went about the Lin/Asik signings differently.

Furthermore, when Dwight decided to come to the Rockets is Morey supposed to just pass on the best Center in the League? I think you guys are failing to realize that Morey got Lin and Asik our current role players now BEFORE we got our stars in Harden and Dwight. This current team has not been built around Harden and Dwight yet.

To people complaining about depth, I understand the whole championship window thing but what was Morey supposed to do considering how the Rockets got this point? Morey short of having Brandon Stark future powers what could he have done to bring depth to the team?

I know I keep talking about that '09 team with Yao and T-Mac, but that was when I got on board with Morey . Morey had two stars in place and built a team with quality depth around those two stars. Morey got two stars again (wanting a third). He will build the depth he has done it before.

this post was way too long.

    Always go with the stars.

Morey is 100% right. Every game was a coin flip and unfortunately the first 4 of 6 flips were tails. A single possession in any of these games would've completely changed the narrative of this team. We were so close from being a "one and done disappointment" to a "Spurs are crapping their pants having to play the dark horse Rockets"

I said wrong choice but what I meant was as soon as we got Howard, Omer should be traded for a decent PF that the chemistry wont be an issue for long. You cant have the luxury of both Howard and Omer while everyone last year saw that we were just a PF away from going deep in the post season.
