I didnt say that, was just sayign ive heard this all before really twice. Went and grabbed 2 of my season ticket holder letters. one from last year when I renewed after playoffs. and one this year when I renewed right before playoffs started. Im still riding with the rockets but you have to understand certain this make you feel a different type of way when you actually invest as a fan. Clippers, okc, blazers, spurs, even warriors are still getting better

I think if Les is saying this, then I think the Rockets are at least in the discussion for some premier FAs. Unlike Howard, I think in this case things really need to line up for us to get someone. But the odds are certainly not negligible like it used to be(like Bosh, Melo, DWill years back).

Like last year, I'll be cautiously optimistic.

If we get Melo our bench is going to be one of the worst of all time. I almost wonder if we should just forget one big FA and just shore up the bench with that money.

 

The bench would be better because in theory you'd always have a star on the court via Miami.

They don't even have a decent Center and most of their guys are knocking on retirement's door.

Remember that vets line up to play with contender for cheap. If we got melo, i'm sure players like D.Harris, Hinrich, S.Blake, M.Miller, V.Carter, R.Jefferson and maybe even Okafor will probably be down to come for the vet minimum. I mean the heat only have so many roster spots available...

Yeah. But that first year Miami's bench was quite crappy. It was only over time that they had a decent rotation. I am personally willing to clear the cap for Melo if it comes to that. But I won't hold any illusions that the supporting cast in year 1 of the Harden/Melo/Dwight trio is going to be bare to say the least.

But over time, that will become better. Parsons and Beverley will improve. The Rockets will have future MLEs and draft picks. Vets at the end of their careers will start to choose us to play, etc. Getting Melo really does require some long term planing because in the short term, he's truly going to gut this team.

 

I guess its just a risk you just have to take.
Bar none, its like a once in a decade opportunity to assemble a three-superstar team.
