That's Mack's biggest strength as a player, he's not versatile as a player in that he can't be moved around on the line.....he's just an OLB, and he doesn't really add all that much to the pass rush unless he's unblocked, but coverage? He's got that.
I think it's fair at this point to say that we KNOW that the Texans will either trade down or pick Clowney.
I just don't see another realistic possibility. Now if they trade down there is plenty of options but there's obviously no QB worth the #1 pick, I don't think they go OT at #1 and despite what Remii has been saying for months (I assume), they aren't going to pick a #3 WR at #1 overall.
We're just making assumptions here. You don't see another realistic possibility, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Most didn't think there was a realistic possibility that the #1 overall pick last year was going to be Fisher. Especially since the team already had a pretty good LT. You just never know.
That's simply not true, most people just thought they were going to take Luke Joeckel instead of Eric Fisher and both of them were rated about the same. Most people knew the position they were going to take. In this draft, there is one obvious #1 pick then a bunch of trade down targets.
Almost every mock out there has Clowney at the #1, you really have to search to find a mock that says anything else and IMO most of them are just trying to be controversial to generate page hits. Mocks with trade down options might say Manziel, Mack, or Bortles, but IMO no legitimate mock would have any of those guys as the #1 pick.
I wouldn't worry too much about what Casserly says, some GM will bite on that big bag of hype no matter what.
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer...raft-blake-bortles-fends-off-clowney-momentum Priso, pretty legit. Just because they are serving it, doesn't mean you have to drink the kool aid.
Exactly... And according to Greg Cosell there are other realistic possibilities because he said he would draft Sammy Watkins with the #1 pick (this morning when he was on with Lance) and not many watch more tape than him. But people who are in love with Clowney's athleticism see no other option.
Prisco is ridiculous here. He just happens to have the Jags getting Clowney. Eye roll . It's the former Jag beat writer coming out in him.
That was a mock draft from 4/16. The Rockets hadn't even started their first round series at that point... I think they're hoping to trade down, and might take less than expected to do just that. Very opposite of what people have been saying with the new salary system that makes the number one pick (and rookie contracts) less crippling in case of a miss. In this case, with no clear number one, the value of the pick seems to be diminishing versus increasing. Now if there was an Andrew Luck or RG III, it'd be a different story as was proven a couple of years ago. Just bad timing all around...
