He seems like a nice guy.

Players seem to like him and respond to him.

Continuity can be a good thing.

    A solid motivator.

NO NEGATIVE STUFF ABOUT MCHALE IN THIS THREAD PLEASE. WE HAVE LIKE 100 THREADS FOR THAT. LETS SAY GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE MAN HERE!!!!!

also he blows time out calls and screwed up on not calling for the switch on D. His D overal is attrocious and his leadership skills don't make up for the bad adjustments and bad decisions...

But man, his pump fake was GREAT when he was a player.

I like him as a person? If that counts for anything. Also he's not a really the WORST coach. But certainly not a playoff series kinda coach. Honestly, people on this board act like the criticism is unfounded, but the guy had his chance and blew it.

Team had 54 wins this season, will probably have 57-59 next season with a couple of minor upgrades.

The irony is that often doesn't translate into being a good head coach in the NBA. See Isiah Thomas and Magic Johnson.

season wins don't matter in the grand scheme when you have a great cast... playoffs are all that matters...

The only positive I see is his recruiting ability.

He could be the x-factor that lands us Kevin Love

His instructions are easy to understand?

    "Play harder."
"Don't let the ball get sticky."

And the latest one -- "Stick to your man."

Of course, the fact that the players routinely ignore him means what exactly ... HAHAHAHAHA

Morey knows a lot more about McHale's coaching ability than any of us. Morey gets to see what goes on in practices and in the locker room. At this point if Morey thinks McHale should be the coach, I'm OK with it.

The Rockets had the fifth best record in the NBA for the regular season, which I think matches their talent level. The rockets lost in the first round, but it was to a team that had the same record in the regular season. I don't really think the Rockets underachieved this season. I know many people are disappointed the Rockets are out of the playoffs this early, but I don't think the Blazers are some scrub team.
