Dare I say that if lowry didn't play these last six games that we win 3-4 of them. As I said in another forum, you can't beat chemistry. Lowry should have been slowly worked back in. I feel boykins should have been getting a little of those minutes. But instead Mchale decided to mess with chemistry and play Lowry all those minutes. The last couple of games he cut back on his minutes but chemistry is already broken. Before some of you go off the deep end, let me say I believe Lowry arguably the best player on the team. But if the MVP of the league (D Rose) can have a negative effect on his team when he came back, then so can Lowry.
lowry hates mchale because hes a crap coach? only runs two offensive plays? seems lost on adjustments? i liked his mentality that if you play hard and your producing mindset from early in the season... but now its like hes stuck on closing out games with ppat at c and bud at sf... knowing damn well we need defense...
Was reading through this v old thread. I find it hard to believe he'd come back to play for McH. It'd be like that old ex g/friend. It seems promising 2nd time around but after 3 days, things that you couldnt stand the first time around is DOUBLY REALLY annoying 2nd time around. Just my prediction.
Lowry has stated recently how he regretted how he acted back when he was here. I think it can work. But honestly, I don't want Lowry. Lots of injury risk, violent style of play(at least when he's most successful), and not that young. For me, this offseason is Melo or bust in terms of FA. If Melo's not coming and no big trades are happening, I just want to spend the MLE.
he should hate mchale for turning him into a ball watching stand in the corner catch and shoot guy when he was playing with dragic. Here he'd average 14 pts a game/6asst/4rbs/ 1.6 turnovers. There aren't many shots to go around. It be like playing in toronto with rudy gay.
It would be stupid for the rockets organization to bring the same team back with Kevin Mchale coaching it. If we add Melo yes we are a better team and I'm not taking next season seriously until the playoffs begin regardless because I'm not letting this Kevin Mchale led team waste my time just like I didn't let Kubiak waste my time with the Texans.
Seems like we're arguing about the same thing 2 years later. Just with a slightly different set of cast members.
Lowry is becoming more and more of a Canadian legend with every game he plays for the Raptors. I think that ultimately Ujiri gets a pretty good deal for Lowry, and they end up retaining him. I did think back a few months ago that it was highly possible that Morey goes after Lowry again in free agency this Summer, but after the Spring he's had, I dont think Morey is going to be able to net him with just the full MLE to offer. Than again the only teams in the league in true need of a starting PG are - -Toronto - (if we are assuming Lowry is a free agent maybe going elsewhere) -Houston- (over the cap) -Magic - (assuming they aren't extending Nelson) -Knicks - Capped out -T-Wolves - (if they are giving up on Rubio) -Bucks- (if they are giving up on B. Knight) -Lakers - (full rebuild) -Pacers- (over the cap) -Mavericks - (just gave big contract to Calderon & also have Harris playing well) Of the teams listed, the teams that would NEED Lowry the most would have to be Toronto and Houston with the Pacers and Mavs being interesting dark horses... So I still wouldn't rule out Morey pursuing Lowry with some creative trades involved to get the deal done, but its still more likely he just resigns in Toronto. This is why I say ultimately Ujiri ends up getting Lowry back on another bargain contract. The contenders listed wont have much to offer other than the MLE without getting creative with trades, and with the pretender rebuilding teams, you kind of have to think that Lowry isn't a piece they want to dump money into for 5 years if they are a few years away from being a half-way decent team anyways.
Amazing post from 2012. It's just so spot on and still relevant (with a different cast). I still can't believe we had a timeout and left Harden in on the last defensive play. Much like, why would you ever have bud be in a last defensive play with the game on the line. I think Kyle probably does, like he says, regret his actions during his last Houston days, but that doesn't mean he enjoyed playing for McHale or would want to come back.
I wouldn't really count the mavs, they play Ellis as the pg and Calderon as the sg, but reverse the matchup on defense.
Yeah I really dont. I think they love Harris as well, but for sake of the conversation, its probably a good idea to keep all possibilities on the table just to get an idea of what the market could look like.
It'd probably be Toronto and maybe us, it might be no one other than Toronto. If Detroit were smart it would be them too. There are so many damned good pgs in this league though, I'm not even sure I'd have Lowry in the top 10 (maybe?).
