Didn't think his 6 shots a game were worth highlighting. Perk also had a little jumper he could hit. Dwight doesn't. If you want to add Perk then we would have to say T.Jones can't shoot either outside of the occasional three. You surround Howard with elite shooting. People need to understand that.
You do realize if we had not gotten rid of Lowry, Harden would not be here. Letting go of Dragic on the other hand was a complete disaster.
It was like a Scola situation. He had his one outside shot that he could routinely knock down. For Perk it was a 10-14 foot baseline J.
we dont need him to put up 30 pts a game, just his 8 assists and 3 steals are good enough for me imo. we just desperate need another play maker that can dribble the ball without hitting it off the foot half of the time
Even though id prefer Lowry over Rondo. The one player that would fit perfect for this team is Kevin Love. If Morey can pull off that trade.. Man!! Dude can Rebound (especially when Dwight goes for blocks), Spread the floor, and pass including the outlet pass for fastbreak situations. Pipe dream I know... Morey pls
Haha I forgot about that little shot. I'm so used to watching the Perkins in OKC that does absolutely nothing! But yeah, I guess he did have a decent little set shot.
A few posts ago. Here's what you said: Egos don't need managing unless there's an ego problem. It's always nice arguing with open-minded people such as yourself. You said he was a major contributor in that series. How would stats from any other series be relevant? He's bad at 3pt shooting and ft shooting. Given that our offense tries to shoot 3's and attack the basket (often leading to free throws), I really don't understand why you're so high on him...
love only works if you replace parsons with a real defensive presence. points will be bled with love, harden, and parsons in the line up.
Okay, here we go! Yes they do, if they aren't managed correctly, they become a problem! That doesn't mean Pierce and Garnett were causing problems. But Rondo made sure they all got looks. Sure they were unselfish, but Rondo did a great job getting them all involved. The other famous big 3 has Lebron, no need for a PG like Rondo because Lebron plays that role, among others. Rondo played that role for Boston. I've tried to be open minded and I've listened to all your points, but there's no getting thru to someone who clearly doesn't understand basketball. How about stats from the other, oh I don't know, 10, 11 playoff series he's been in? Those are pretty relevant I'd say. He doesn't have to be a scorer on our team, like he wasn't for boston. We have plenty offense from Harden, Howard, and parsons. Rondo would simply increase the quality of looks those guys get.
Rondo not being able to shoot well isn't a problem.. we need leadership, smart decisions, play-making, and tough-nosed D from our PG... that's Rondo. and he makes tons of layups which is great... esp if we can get a stretch 4. Rondo and stretch 4 takes my vote.. along w/ a tough defensive minded assistant coach to coach up our D schemes and Harden.
Actually, that's exactly what it means. Whether or not it was your intention, you're saying that without a 21 year-old Rondo, the egos of Allen/Pierce/Garnett would've led to problems with each other. Wow. Now you're comparing the role of a 21 year-old Rajon Rondo to the role of Lebron James. I'll stop here. You're right. Rondo is the GOAT.
Oh my god!! Read the post and stop coming to your own conclusions! I'm not saying it would've been major problems, but it wouldn't have worked nearly as well. No, I'm not comparing them! Again, read carefully. I said LeBron plays the same role for the heat, AMONG OTHER ROLES, that Rondo played for Boston. Not just in his 1st year, but every year they were together. I'm not comparing Rondo to Lebron. I'm saying Miami didn't need someone like Rondo, because Lebron plays that role. Pierce was always a great scorer, Allen was a great shooter, Garnett was great defender and could score as well. NONE of them were great at making plays for others. That's why they needed rondo. I'm not saying he's the GOAT! I'm not even saying you have to like him. But if you don't see his value, ESPECIALLY to a team like this, then you simply don't understand basketball very well. You don't know what intangibles look like, and don't realize that there is more to basketball than 3 point shooting...
If a player is a good scorer, he draws extra defensive attention which creates open shots for teammates. Because they were good scorers, both Pierce and Garnett could create shots for other. Awesome. The ever-reliable "I don't have a strong argument to support my case, but if you disagree with me, you don't understand basketball" argument. Well-done.
The fact that you just said "if a player is a good scorer he creates open shots for others" proves that you don't know what you're talking about... I've given you plenty examples to back up my argument. Although the burden of proof is on you seeing as you're the one discounting a superstars career achievements because of one weakness. You're the one saying he wouldn't fit our team even though we can make up for that one weakness with one of our handful of shooters, the same way Boston did. I'm simply pointing out things he has done over his entire career. I'm not trying to be a dick, it's just hard to argue with someone who ignores a 4 time all star's achievements AND stats... Like these stats- 08-09 playoffs: 16.9 ppg, 9.7 rpg, and 9.8 rpg Do I need to back up my case anymore? Okay I will. Look at the very next year when he took Boston to the finals: 15.8 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 9.3 apg, AND 37% 3pt shooting.
I was in the middle. Wouldn't say I was on the bandwagon. My thought process was, if he'll rebound and run the floor and not jack 3's then he'd be a good fit. I don't know if he'd do that or not. But I was fine with not signing him. Don't know what that has to do with your absurd opinion on rondo, but whatever.
Both Josh Smith and Rondo give you stats that don't translate into winning basketball. You're so high on Rondo that it'd be logical that you were on the Josh Smith bandwagon. And let's not sugarcoat the truth. You were in the front row of the Josh Smith bandwagon: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=6943471&postcount=9
