Absolutely wrong. Pierce, Allen, and Garnett were all seasoned veterans who were team-first players. None of them had egos. For most of his career, he's had great teammates. That's because Rose is also a poor jump-shooter. That type of defense only works on pg's who can't shoot. His defense isn't significantly better than Beverley's, and the upgrade in ball-handling/court vision doesn't justify the increase in salary. Sorry, but Rondo isn't a leader. If he were, he would've put more effort into fixing his broken jump shot, and Ray Allen wouldn't have gone to Miami for less money.
The answer is YES rondo will, Lowry is just like another harden not a true PG a combo guard who likes to have the ball & score. He's not going to be a good entry passer (height), vet finals experience, clock manager, high bball iq to make everyone around him better like rondo. rondo is a solid combo guard, he reminds me of Ellis just a lil better. Do you think Ellis and harden starting together would be good ?
I think......... we're trying to get Rondo to deal him to the Lakers for the Lakers lottery pick. If we can get that lottery pick (provided the Lakers stay at #6) then we could possibly work a deal for Love using #6, our pick, plus a couple future first rounders. Something like this: Boston gets Asik/Lin/Jones. Lakers get Rondo Minny gets Lakers lottery pick, DMo, Casspi, our 2014 #1, and a future first rounder. We get Love and Gerald Wallace. I don't see trading for Rondo to keep him at this point. I think if we deal for Rondo it is simply a stepping stone to Love, Melo, or possibly one of the Miami guys.
You have no idea what you're talking about! I don't care if they're team 1st guys, everyone in the league that has had success as "the guy" has an ego! Would he not have great teammates here? He's not as bad of a shooter as you're saying he is. He's hit timely shots time and again in his career! You're blindly hating on him. Which is fine, I do that with some players too. Just don't try to talk basketball... It doesn't work for you!
It sounds like you don't know what it means to be a team-first player. That means you prioritize your team's success over your own. And that means you don't have an ego. I don't know which is more laughable....your argument that Pierce/Allen/Garnett had ego problems or your argument that they needed a 21 year old Rajon Rondo to "manage" their egos. Which one do you think is stupider? I'm leaning towards the 2nd one. Not compared to what he had with Allen/Pierce/Garnett. How am I blindly hating on him when I give stats and examples to support my opinions?
Not happening. Lakers planning for their post-Kobe franchise. They have no need for a 28 year old Rondo.
I'm from Boston. The main reason Rondo worked so well with that group is because ALL of his supporting could shoot. KG had his 15-18 footer that he canned with regularity. Shuttlesworth worked a mean perimeter game, and Pierce could score from anywhere on the court. If Howard wasn't such a terrible shot then Rondo could work wonders here, but having two guys on the court that can't shoot worth a dayum is a problem. Rondo isn't the greatest guy to have in the locker room either. He was always at odds with the Big 3 and especially Ray Allen.
I mentioned it as a possibility. I think it is more likely LAL either keeps the pick or tries to trade it for Kyrie. However, I still don't see us trading for Rondo to keep Rondo at this stage. Other posters are making very good points about him. This team is Harden/Howard centric. We've got to get big-time shooters around those two and it would be best if the other 4 guys on the floor around Howard could shoot free-throws at about an 80% clip.
Well Lowry played with with Yao and I don't remember the entry pass being a problem for him. Plus Lowry is a Morey type player ( Low TO's , Draws fouls, Good 3 point shooter, hustles, good BBall IQ, great defense, and good at finishing at the rim). His style of play would fit very well next Harden and Howard.
Rondo doesn't fit this team. Someone like Lowry and Dragic fit this team perfectly. I think Morey make a bad decision to get rid of them and I already KNEW it was a bad decision when he decided to let them go. I was STUNNED!! I don't mind getting rid of players like Scola, Martin, Courtney Lee but Dragic and Lowry?? Nah ah...no way. I said before, we have TWO BULLDOGS in the NBA and Dragic and Lowry are the two bullies.
Read closely so you can truly understand what I'm saying! When did I say they had ego problems? There's a difference having and ego and having an ego problem! PP, RA, and KG all have egos. By the 2nd year of that team being together it was Rondo's team! At least according to Doc Rivers it was. Rarely did anyone take a shot or make a play that Rondo didn't start. He was the leader of that team! I don't care what you think, he was! You're giving stats from one series and ignoring the countless playoff triple-doubles... Plus how many times have I said Rondo's value can't be measured in stats! But if you wanted to measure that way we can do that too... Career: 32 mpg, 48% shooting, 11.1 ppg, 8.3 apg, 4.5 rpg, 2 spg. The ONLY knock on his game is 3pt shooting.
Exactly we don't any PFs that consistently hit that Mid-Range or even 3 point shots we need. In the playoffs, all teams are gonna do is clog the paint and make Rondo beat them from the outside. Unless he develops a consistent jump shot he not gonna fit this team very well.
